A little soot on the exhaust is inevitable. Don't worry about it if the car is running fine.

In the old days, when things like that bothered you, you could pop the hood and play around with the little screws on the carburetor until you had a real problem. Fortunately that is no longer possible.

It's normal. Turbo engines run a tad richer as stated before. I wipe my tailpipes down every few days as well. A/f ratio on WOT locks in around 10.7-11:1 on my Sonata Turbo. Cruising around its about 14:1 to 14.2:1

my concern was not the soot or anything related to engine running fine. I just thought that maybe because everyone was so concenred about the fuel efficency that this could be one of the reasons for the higher fuel spend. I have been driving turbos cars for a while and understand how they work. My question was to see if the extra fuel mix would result in a higher fuel consumption. The turbo runs great and I am happy with it.

I think it's normal. My Genesis Coupe V6 did this, too.
