Where are 2013 Santa Fe's built?

Hi everyone, this is my first post. I am in the market for a car... i was looking at the scion xB but that is now out the window after checking out and test driving the 2013 santa fe sport.

Just a quick question - does anyone know where these cars are built? Is there more than one plant?

Cheers,
-sh00k

West Point, GA, same as the old ones. There is more than one Hyundai plant in the US, but not for the Santa Fe. The Elantra and Sonata are made in Montgomery, AL. Everything else is made in Korea as far as I know.

US / Canada cars are built at the plant in Georgia, but Santa Fe's for the rest of the world are built in Korea.

Welcome to the forum.

For future reference - open the driver door of any car - look at the door jam usually down low - there is a plate with info including assembly location.

Might apply if he had the car.

Sometimes its easier to get info online. Especially when you get the answer and then a bit more info like what we see above about other models.

Since late 2010 all North American Santa Fes have been assembled by KIA in Westpoint, GA.

Hyundai shifts Santa Fe production to Kia plant to get more Sonatas - Autoweek

Would this be bad or good? Why do ROW get Korea made and we get US?

Well I guess that depends if you like American made or not. I started a thread titled "Hyundai by Kia". It turned into quite a discussion about where/how vehicles are made. Hyundai SF by Kia, thoughts about that?

I think the bigger issue is that this is a first year vehicle so they are bound to have some issues that need to be worked out. Doesn't matter if it is a Hyundai or any other brand. I have been seriously considering the Santa Fe and believe in their quality (even though I do not own a Hyundai yet). I was very impressed when I took my two test drives in the SF. For me, the MPG issue is huge. I was counting on the original stated MPG for some significant fuel savings over my Buick Enclave.
I still might buy one though.... I really like the vehicle. Seems like a lot of people like the Mazda CX-5 but I think it looks like a little box and it has no towing capability (compared to the 2.0T SF).

I checked the CX-5 and was not impressed. Warranty and styling plus the power of the Santa Fe won me over. My wife has a Tucson and she loves it, so that helped my decision on going with Hyundai also.
