Aftermarket sub?

I opted for the leather package but not the most expensive nav one with the better speaker system. Is anyone else thinking about adding a sub, can you recommend something that would marry well with the 6 speaker system?

Thanks,
Eric

Depends what you want and how much you want to spend. In my Highlander, I have an amplified Blaupunkt underseat subwoofer which adds a bit a low end and doesn't suck up any of my valuable cargo room. That's sufficient for me.

There are allot more options on the market now...try googling "amplified subwoofer car" or "powered subwoofer car". Just make sure that the sub has its own cross over controls etc and can hook directly into your speaker out from your factory head unit. Mine does both, and since I swapped out for a Pioneer, I have separate sub control in my head unit (just gives you a bit more flexibility in controlling the sub output).

If you're looking for window rattling thump, then an underseat is NOT the way to go. You'll need a separate amplifier and 8-12" subwoofer in an enclosure that can hook into your factory unit. Unless you are adept at this sort of thing, then you may want to seek help of qualified installer to avoid any issues.

I have the 6 speaker stereo, and added a 12" shallow mount Kenwood sub, powered by a Kicker mono 400w amp. I located it all under the rear hatch cargo area. I removed the rubber/plastic tray, and built a speaker box that will support the hidden cargo cover. With the cover closed you can't tell anything was modified. Sounds great!

I need to crawl in the back with the radio on to see if my sub is even working. Certainly can not hear any base coming from it in the driver seat....

Here are pictures of the installation. I do still need to build a small support for the rear portion of the cargo cover closest to the hatch.

Has anyone put a sub in the factory location? Are there speaker wires there already? I'm looking at 2.0 T with leather package.

Look at the Kicker Hideaway, it's a simple plug and go too, small enough to hide under the seat or rear deck without getting in the way. Have one under the seat of my RC Ram, perfect.

Have a question for SFers with the Infinity 10-speaker system (incl sub).

I realize this is a bit subjective, but do you find that the system has good bass, or do you think the system would benefit from an aftermarket sub, such as the one posted by MG Santa Fe?

I'm not looking to rattle windows, but want to feel a bit of punch. Had one in my Highlander and it worked well (although that was the only sub in the vehicle).

I would consider an aftermarket sub that fits under the seat like that but not willing to compromise any other space for this purpose.

There are quite a few I am looking at, including the Kicker. They are much less expensive in the US, and can get one shipped to family in FL before they return home at the beginning of April...save me some bucks.

Anyway appreciate any feedback.
