iPhone 6 IOS 8 USB Connection Audio Controls

Just purchased a 2013 lightly used Santa Fe

When I connect iPhone 6 or 6+ via legit Apple USB cable to USB connection my steering wheel and head unit up/down controls make the phone go haywire. This happens in Spotify and iTunes. The phone starts skipping tracks and will not stop. It just keeps skipping from song to song until I unplug the USB cable. Is this just me or does it happen to others? Is this a warranty issue?

My bluetooth audio quality is pretty poor. Staticy and not very clear sounding.

Thoughts?

My son has connected his iphone 5s via USB a few times with no issues whatsoever. He mostly uses bluetooth when he connects, and although quality is not the same as CD or my USB drive, it's decent.

What system do you have in your SF (perhaps update your profile that appears to the left with year, and trim level)....ie. Infinity or the lower end system?

Quite possible that there are tweaks in the iphone 6 that just don't function with the existing system. Would be interesting to go to dealership and try in a 2015 and see if you have the same issue.

I have major problems with USB connection and IOS 8.1.3. USB skip forward/back does not work with my iPhone 6 and my wife's 6+. I get stuck in a skipping loop if I use steering wheel controls. Play 10seconds of a song and then just keeps skipping. Same issue in Spotify, Pandora, and iTunes. Took it to a dealer and they gave me a hard time and said it's Apple. They told me to use Bluetooth. My bluetooth in car for audio sounds very raspy even after fiddling with volume levels. I hope a solutions comes out soon. If you guys have any ideas let me know.

Is your Bluetooth active while it's plugged into the USB? I heard there may be issues with them both being active, so if you plug in the USB, turn off the BT. This can be an issue though if you get a call...

I don't use my phone for music, separate iPod, so I can't verify.

No response to earlier suggestion, so perhaps you can respond - do you have USB connection on and BT active at same time? I've heard of issues where the phone responds effectively via both.

Make sure if you plug into USB that you turn OFF BT, or vice versa.

Would be interested to hear feedback.

Mine has had problems like this with the iPhone since I got it new. I'm hoping the June release of the nav software will make it work better. It always get in skipping loops and tries to redirect from spotify to the native music app.

I installed the june update, and so far have not had the skipping issue with spotify. Sometimes when i hit the button to skip to the next track, it restarts the current one. I just hit it again and it skips like it is supposed to. It still auto plays from the music app when i plug it in regardless of which audio app was being used before. It also will revert from spotify to the music app if i turn off the car and restart while my phone is plugged in. Overall, it is much more usable now though. Iphone 6+ on 8.3. It also seems to work fine on the ios 9 beta, but i haven't tested skipping tracks.

Fix for skipping?

I am still having the skipping issue with my 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe and an iPhone connected using a lightning cable. Are you saying the Nav Update from Mapnsoft fixed your issues? If so I might buy a Nav update card on eBay. I hate not being able to skip tracks. I had the head unit replaced and I still have the same issue.

Thanks dwschoon!

Glad to hear that some of your problems are fixed now. I hate the auto play music app, I have some bad, same song I hear every time I plug in my phone lol. However I don't hate that as much as I hated not being able to skip tracks.

I wish the update was cheaper, can't decide if I wan't to spend $200 to fix the skipping and not have to hit the Agree button every time

I've had an issue with my Santa Fe's head unit and my iPod touch since I purchased the vehicle. It cannot play in random mode and if I skip to many tracks it causes the iPod to crash. I have to disconnect the iPod completely and if that doesn't work, I have to turn it on and off before reconnecting.

After much complaining, I convinced the dealer to let me try it on other 17's and they had the same problem. As long as I play a playlist in order I'm fine, but skipping creates issues.

The funny thing is that I put the iPod in my wife's Tuscon and there is no issues. Hyundai is yet to explain why this is happening.
