Better check with Hyundai service,, there been concern I think with 3.5 random stall,, may even be Class Action in USA.. think it possibly goes to a throttle body concern/ fault.. Do some searching on the subject

Thanks for the quick reply. My (limited) understanding was that the class action:
https://topclassactions.com/lawsuit...anta-fe-stalling-defect-class-action-lawsuit/
in the U.S. occurred about the same time as the 2014 throttle body software fix.

My car got this fix, and afterwards my car made this noise when turned off:

So I assumed the throttle body software problem was not causing my stalls.

My mechanic has ordered the T fitting to monitor fuel pressure when the stall occurs. I will update this and my other thread when I get the results.
Thanks again,

Funny how they refer to it as "stalling issue" and "paying for it"..... what is the root cause of "stalling issue" and what the repair for "stalling issue" that was "paid for" ??

The 1st 1 we had, FSE and Korean fella took car out for couple down interstate, thne turn around and come back. I think we was told to replace throttle body ?? (Wasnt my job assignment)...

They later come out with recall to update PCM.. and a fair shair of 200A intake runner performance, leading to replacement of lower intake manifold.

Seeing you in Canada, dont know if you all had an update made available up there or not.

Hi sbr711,
I thought the PCM update is what causes the whirring sound when I turned off the ignition that you can hear in my you-tube video. I heard it was the throttle body being exercised.

I am not sure what the "200A intake runner performance" refers to, or that people were getting lower intake manifolds replaced. My problem started the day that the intake manifold was off for the oil pressure switch replacement. Coincidence?

I have to apologize for causing confusion by starting a new thread. My goal was to find an economical source for the fuel pump once the mechanic proves that the fuel pressure is dropping, and be ready to order. I have not had the car for over two weeks.

In my other thread, "3.5 L stalling", I did mention the problem started right after the mechanic did the oil pressure switch (and spark plugs) last fall. It didn't actually stall then, but I could feel the engine faltering at a stop sign the day I picked up the car. I phoned the mechanic that day, but he thought the computer would adjust things. The faltering got slowly worse to the point it first stalled in March. Most of my miles are highway.

Again, sorry for the double thread.

Christopher:

Our 2011 3.5 makes this same noise. I believe it it the electric radiator fan winding down when the engine is turned off. IMO, it may last quite a while, or give up the ghost any moment. The rattling or buzzing noise I also heard is concerning. That sounds possibly like a timing chain/tensioner issue, or something to do with the adjustable cam phasing system.

Ours recently turned over 46K. So far, an alternator replacement and an AC recharge are the only issue in the ~28K we have owned it. Other than being a bit thirstier (fuel wise) than we would like, we can't say anything bad about it.

Actually the noise I posted in the you tube was resolved as:
"That whirring noise coming from the top of the engine is now normal. According to my dealer, part of the ECM update ( I believe it is called that) is to have the throttle body plate wiggle back and forth so to speak to help clean out carbon deposits that Hyundai has said is starting to build up on the plate. The noise is the plate rotating back and forth cleaning out the carbon on the area where the plate spins.....
The dealer I brought the car to in Connecticut also spoke to the Hyundai tech reps to confirm.....

So all is good...according to them...

The service manager said it would of been nice if Hyundai advised the dealers that this noise would be happening.

Oh well... " -thanks to HDriver in this thread:

I simply mentioned it as proof that I had the ECM software update. By now I would think everyone has.

Still no word from my mechanic's the fuel pressure test.

Chris:
I will have to give ours another listen, but am very tempted to call their diagnosis BS. Our 2011 does make the buzzing noise for 3-4 seconds upon the first start of the day. That noise is totally separate from the whirring at shut down.

Try this for me:
Have someone shut off the engine while you have the hood up, and watch the electric fan for the radiator. I expect that you will see its motion and subsequent slowing down/stop match up to the sound you are hearing.
