Service Campaign "Rust Proofing"

I just received a notice in the mail about a service campaign to rust proof 2007-2010 Santa Fe's.
Is this new, or have others heard about it? It states that it covers "Salt Belt" vehicles.
I'm wondering how effective this will be, considering the vehicles age. Spraying my 7 year old vehicle that may already have issues, will this be of any real use considering any rust that exists will just become trapped under the new coating.

If it's free, maybe. Otherwise it's just a sales pitch.

Haven't seen anything like that here in Colorado... it's news here, but we're well outside of the 'salt belt' for the most part. Mag chloride here anyway when used.
Obvious question -- does it come from Hyundai or is someone just trying to make it look that way to sell a few rustproofing treatments?
Any chance you have a scanner or something you could use to post a facsimile here? What is campaign number from the paperwork you received. There will be one if legit.

This was several years ago but I was at the dealer for a recall and they were doing a factory mandated rust proofing on anothet vehicle, because of potential problems. They were drilling holes and shooting in rustproofing under the vehicle. So there have been cases like that. I am definitely in the rust belt. Of course , I have no way of knowing who contacted you but it is easy enough to check.

Who sent you this notice? Does it show a Hyundai contact number? Call whatever contact number they gave and see if they want you to go to a Hyundai dealer or elsewhere. It should not be hard to figure out if it is Hyundai or some rust proofing company. Asking them what it is all about should be more productive than asking us.You can also ask your dealer customer service or Hyundai if they have further information.

I brought my (Ontario) vehicle in for the coil spring recall (inspection) and they said "oh there's a new one we have to do at the same time" which turned out to be a new application of undercoating. No charge.

It's from Hyundai Motor America, Fountain Valley California. It says to schedule a service appointment with your Hyundai dealer and the procedure will be performed at NO COST to you. The phone number is 855 371-9460. It says more info is at www.hyundaiusa.com/campaign947.

Sounds like the OP got a deal. That's a legit Hyundai phone number for customer service.
Will have to check more deeply to see which model years and states are impacted by this campaign.
