Overhead RSE flip-down monitor removal on Limited

I'm looking for instructions on how to remove existing RSE roof-mounted flip-down monitor and replace with a new one. The old one has the usual problem with no DVD video signal that bugs probably all after a while (should really be a recall). Dealer service is not an option (very steep price, not worth it). I have bought an overstock replacement OEM monitor and decided to give it a shot myself, but I cannot find any screws, or latches on the outside. How do you pull that thing out?

Thanks for any tips.

Just finished, no special trim tools were really needed :) A clean wide 6" drywall joint knife that I had on hand inserted under the cover made it super easy to take it off. For some reason mine had 4 tabs rather than 2 shown on the diagram. Also, in addition to 4 screws the monitor was secured to the roof with 2 more metal tabs. Inserting the wire harness plug into the new monitor was probably the only tricky part, as it's super easy to bend pins. Applying a gentle force while wiggling it in worked best. Now my DVD video is working again - a pretty easy fix for $80 :)

Interestingly, while taking the cover off I have noticed a tiny IC component that has likely detached off the old circuit board and fallen into the cover (see picture, sorry for poor quality). I have even located a spot on the board where it most likely was originally attached. Looks like a quality issue with the solder for Hyundai. Wonder if re-soldering would fix the video problem in the old monitor.

Just changed mine the other day. Like Sebuz said and laid out. Its not that bad.

Get a drywall tool, slip it between the head liner and the cover edges. Wiggle it around until you get the feel that you caught a latch then should pop off. Just do it carefully that you don't crack the cover. I imagine it can be a pain to get another one by itself.

Next, when you DO get it off. Look for four hex style screws. Screwed the roof rain. Don't bother with the torex screws attached to the corners of the monitor itself, you'll needlessly complicate things for your self. (I learnt the hard way) once you get those four screws out, there's two metal clips you need to release next. One each between the two screws a little farther up in the hole. (Those clips are the back up for those screws to keep the monitor from coming loose and falling on your rear passengers. ) work those clips until you get it loose. (I used those tiny pen screwdrivers you get from O'Reillys) once you get those loose and those clips were a ******* to get lose. Then the monitor drops out.

Disconnect monitor from wire harness using a channel lock to hold the wire harness at the sides and using flat a screw driver to gently hammer it out. (You might need a helper to hold hanging monitor and to avoid any potential damage to existing wires.

Once you get it out, congrats! you removed a few monitor. You potentially saved your self $1,000 doing this you're self.

To get your new monitor in just so what you did but backwards. Things should just snap in.

To get oen monitors. Try ebay. That's where I got mine. Try jones automotive surplus. That's where I got mine from.
Now it works perfectly. Now I got a long road of sing a longs and frozen songs ahead of me. ?
