Unlock all doors the first time? Possible?

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to unlock all the doors (with the key fob) with the first press, rather than just unlock the driver's door? I find this "default" feature of unlocking the driver's door (on many vehicles) very annoying.

I found a post here that suggests it's possible to change the behaviour of the fobs, have looked in the owner's manual and find no instructions to do this.

I have not tried the long press on the TRIP button to see if that brings up the menu - will post back my results, just figured I'd ask in case someone has done this already.

Thanks!

I've got to ask: Why not just press the button twice?

Not one of the few items that the dealer can program on the BCU end.

It varies a lot from model to model. My old Focus could do one-press unlock (but it was hard to find in the owners-manual). My Accent can't as far as I know.

The 2 push to unlock all has been standard in all my cars and trucks since 1983. It's a safety issue to keep people from jumping in your car when you unlock. I doubt you will find a workaround for this other than rewiring your locks to be all on the same circuit.

It's standard, but it's user selectable on a lot of cars.

2002 Focus you could hold lock and unlock to switch modes. 2014 Corolla you could do it through the menus. I think SOME Hyundais allowed it, but not sure.

This is for MD Elantra, not sure if it works for your vehicle

One or Two-Stage Unlock - This can actually by programmed by you, the owner, in the comfort of your garage or driveway. No dealer visit is required. Two-stage unlocking is the factory default where the only the driver door unlocks on the first press and then a second press within 4 seconds is required to unlock the remaining doors. To disable (or re-enable) two-stage unlocking, follow these easy instructions.

> Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons together until the hazard flashers cycle four times, then release.
> Lock and then unlock car using the remote (or access button on Tech Package models) to confirm your settings.

Maybe ...

I found that info on page 4-7 of the 2013 Elantra manual, but not in the 2016 Elantra manual. So maybe they removed it sometime after 2013, or maybe it works on other models and they don't mention it in the owners manual anymore.

Can't hurt to try it.

Thanks for all the posts with this, I will give it a go and see tonight.

I find the two stage unlocking super annoying and impractical, and I don't anticipate anyone jumping in my car... I guess if that happens, it's on me, but I'm still the one with the key, so I really don't get this "safety" feature.

It really somewhat depends on how you use the car.

If you are the only person using the car, 2-stage unlocking makes sense.

If you and your wife or friends are always going somewhere in the car, or you need to get a child out of the rear car seat, or put a laptop on the rear seat, single-stage unlocking makes sense.

It was selectable on my previous car, and I used single-stage, b/c I would often need to open the passenger or rear door and not think about pressing the button twice. The Accent is two-stage and it doesn't bother me.
