I have a 2007 Santa Fe and need help with something. My air conditioner keeps turning on by itself. I press it to turn off, but keeps turning on. I do this several times before it stays off. Then after 10 - 15 minutes, it turns back on. Is this a relay problem or a button problem? Would like some help before I take to a dealership and drop a lot money.

Does it have fully automatic climate control system with the digital control panel or the manually controlled system.

Are you aware that the A/C switches on automatically when the air distribution control is set to demist the windscreen. Does yours still switch on when the control is set to the foot vents?

'07 GLS should have the 'manual' system.

OK - let's talk about what you mean by "My air conditioner keeps turning on...". Does this mean that you have the unit already running (intentional air flow to whatever ducts, perhaps even heat), but that for no apparent reason, either the "PUSH A/C" light becomes lit, or the "MAX A/C" light becomes lit, as though you had pushed one of those buttons?

The air conditioner is off, then it just turns on like if I pressed it on. The "MAX A/C" light turns on the it starts blowing. So I pressed the "OFF" button. Then it instantly turns back on, I press the "OFF" button again and again. Have to do this several times then it stays off for several minutes and again the air turns on. It is a constant thing.

If ONLY while driving, it sounds like a vibration issue, and your original thought about the switch might well be appropriate.
At idle, if you bang around on the console area around the controls with your hand without hitting any buttons, is it by chance possible to replicate this?

There's no 'relay' that turns on the A/C. I mean, there IS a relay that turns on the compressor, but that would not cause the light to illuminate on the control. The control module wouldn't know the compressor was running. If it were bouncing around or stuck, the compressor would be running for no apparent reason.

In your case, the A/C control module is turning on the relay (and lighting the associated indicator on the control). The question is why the control module is doing this, essentially thinking the button has been pushed. Just so we're 100% clear, the defrost indicator does not also illuminate when this happens, does it?
