Goes out, then come back on at some point? Intermittent?

I presume the bulb is good. You better get a meter and when not working you can see of there power to the socket. Assuming the bulb is truly good maybe corrosion issue somewhere but inspection will only tell. The bulb element can go intermittent. Note the High bean and low are the same bulb. Both H7 so you can swap them carefully.

DVOM is your friend..

Find ground for left lamp assembly,, grind away paint, slap some grease on the bare steel, and reconnect ground lug..

Filament open circuit ?? then bulb issue.. fuse open circuit, the circuit draw too much current, or short to ground..

Actually, the 'ground' issue can become the 'filament' issue soon enough. If the bulb keeps being powered intermittently due to a crappy ground, that puts a lot of 'wear and tear' on the filament. The surge current each time power is applied hits them pretty hard.

Agree with sbr -- get the ground cleaned up before installing any new bulbs! Then consider an el cheapo DVM that will allow you to troubleshoot electrical issues. There's always help in a forum somewhere, and you'll save the price of the device quickly by a bit of DIY troubleshooting.

Bulb is not intermittent. The lo beam is out after being fixed maybe 5 mos. ago. Have tried multiple bulbs, fuses and a new relay. Probably is a short somewhere. I know cars a little, but a true novice concerning electrical. Looks like the dealer is my only option.

Was it ever in an accident or any major work done. Wiring could have been pinched or damaged at those times? This would all be up front since the power source, relays and light is all there under the hood. You might spot something and or a loose harness rubbing to the metal. If the fuse does not blow then likely cut (opening the circuit is more likely).

With the light on wiggling various hardness around it may get it going off and on for isolating the source of the problem.

Since its just one side the relay an fuse is out of the loop. It has to be with the wiring at the fixture area and/or the socket itself. A meter would go a long way determining the problem especially when its not on.

Good luck with it.

Your original report didn't make clear if you were burning out bulbs or that they just weren't coming on. Guess that part is clear, now.

"How" what? Remove the headlight unit, or rewire things? When you say "I have power through the main connection", which connection do you mean? Are you dealing with a socket problem?

Sounding like its a socket problem if I am understanding there is power a the silver contacts at the back where the wire come in. But nothing where the bulb plugs in. I could be one side or the other there. No Ground at the socket of no 12V if metered the vehicle ground and not the wire there. Odd as I never seen a headlight plug go bad.
