Driver Side Floor is Wet

I have an 09' Limited with Weathertech Digital fit mats. I know the mats hold in and pool liquid so they don't get on the mats. I've had a lot of condensation lately on all windows. I removed the Weathertech mat to get the small amount of water that was on it and noticed the driver side carpet was wet (all of the other spots are fine). Firewall isn't wet - put my fingers under the door trim and there is some wetness (don't know if that's the source but just checked). Called service and they advised me to take the mat out and let it dry. Said it could be that the snow/water on the carpet could be from leaking/coming down from where the mat connects to the car. Heard the AC drain may be the culprit but any assistance may help.

snip, any assistance may help.
Same problem. I have been drying out my driver's side front and back for the last week. Fortunately I'm in Florida right now so its a little easier. I thought the wet could be from boot snow before leaving Canada, but not sure. My firewall carpet seems dry also, though water would quickly migrate to the lowest point, so I have not ruled out AC drain. I've read on this forum that the AC drain affects more the passenger side, but I'm not 100% sure. There is a post somewhere here about unkinking the AC drain on the engine side of the firewall, but I can't seem to find it right now.

I had a similar problem with my 09 i10 with water collecting on the driver's door sill above the rubber door seal and spilling onto the floor when opening the door. Luckily it didn't get bad enough to end up on the carpet.

The water was obviously getting in via the inner door seal. I removed the door card(lining) then added more sealant all around the plastic door seal with a mastic gun. I pleased to this has cured the problem.

It rained the other night, so I checked early the next day. The wetness hadn't had time to spread and was worse at the carpet where I am pointing (carpet beside rear seat, driver's side). I compared the door seal to the passenger side and noticed it was loose in the upper, rear area of the door.

I'm guessing that the water was migrating in at that point, then traveling down the inside of the seal, then spilling out onto the sill and then onto the carpet, like Ebenezer mentioned. I have pushed the seal back in (this was a problem on my 2008 as well, though it didn't leak), and will silicone it later. I'll let you know how it fares after the next rain. Though that might be May, as I'm heading home next week from Florida!

Thanks Ebenezer for the idea.

Took it to the dealer. Tech came out and told advisor the AC drain was plugged and he cleared it and vacuumed up the water. Then when it came time to pay for the diagnostic, the report states "apply water on top of roof - run down through pillar housing to see if water leaking through - is wet - need 'leak company' to perform repair to precent outside to inner leakage'.

Now I'm confused and going to be calling tomorrow because this hour long diagnostic seemed to not resolve anything. First its the drain - then it's not? I have a 3rd party warranty I purchased from this dealer when I bought the car off them and water leaks is basically the only thing not covered.

Should I take out my 'anger' on the dealer for the mixed diagnostic? Need to have this resolved.

Hmmm, I was wondering about the roof leaking down the pillar myself. Especially after reading that the AC probably affects the passenger side more. I noticed the wet mats after 2 days of heavy Florida rain, and its been dry since. I don't have access to a water hose as I'm renting here, so I guess I'll wait for the next rain storm and see.

I had been using a roof pod for a few days with about 100 lbs. in it, I hope that would not cause the roof to start leaking. And if it is, could you just clear silicone each side of the roof rails? Good luck, and keep me posted.

Well I noticed condensation on the inside of the windows again this evening and low and behold - the carpet underneath the mat is wet yet again. Giving the dealer a call tomorrow... You would think they would be able to pinpoint the issue after an hour of 'diagnostic' - (@$109/hr). They are not going to be happy with me tomorrow.

So I noticed my windshield had a crack below the wipers (not noticeable from inside) so I had it replaced yesterday. I didn't think that was the problem but wanted to be proactive - thinking it could have been the windshield seal. Had an appointment today with the leak specialist and he ripped the whole floor up, checked HVAC, AC drain, seals and gaskets - everything. He did notice the dampness on the floor as well. He did not find an issue with the car - no leaks. Said that the dampness/condensation in the car is normal and checked out perfectly fine. Snow/Ice brought could be contributing to the dampness and due to it being covered by the mat, has no way to dry. He also noted that under the carpet was not wet and there were no mould or issue. Well, $200 later worth of diagnostic fees to find no issue but I guess that's a good thing.
