Santa Fe 2011 3.5L block heater cord length

I had a block heater installed on my Santa Fe 2011 V6, but the cord seems too short to reach out the front grill. I would have to close the hood on it or open the hood every night to plug it in?

What do you do with yours?

Normally they will reach out the front. Check the routing of it. Those cords plug into the heating part so it could be replaced. Leaving it hanging out the front without the plug rubber cover over it will corrode it fast.

I just checked mine. Being a Limited I figured it would have one built for Canada. LOL

But I don't see a power cord anywhere. Usually they're coiled and tie wrapped up top for use by the owner to uncoil and route it under the hood. I guess that won't be an option on this SUV if we hit -20's like last winter. My other vehicles have them standard equipment.

Good thing I didn't bet on it. I'd be in a hole. Ha ha....

block heater cord too short

The cord on my 2012 Santa Fe was too short to reach out under the hood so I had to plug the extension cord into it and close the hood over the extension cord. Recently the hood release latch and wire broke. It took a month to get the parts and now the dealership is saying it wont be covered under the warranty and will cost $400 to fix. Anybody else experience this?

Mine cord has enough length to that it can stick out about 18" from the middle of the bottom air dam. You can re-route it to give you lots of slack. If you pull off the front driver wheel well splash guard (just remove 2 push pins and pull back) there is a lot of room to work.
