So I was late for work so I was in a little bit of a rush and notice my gas was low said 66 miles left so I was going to get gas after work. Went to work for 8 hours and was getting ready to leave and couldn't fine My keys so I checked my car and I left my car running the whole time at work at work...... what a day..... the Santa fe took 17.7 gallons.. is letting my car idle for 8 hours bad? It seem to drive fine didn't notice anything different

THIS, is a great story! And kudos to you for sharing it with us. I kept asking myself as I read your post if I would confess to doing such if it happened to me. I'm still not certain if I would, or not!  :wink2:

I'm sure the only thing it hurt was your ego ;) And your pocket book when you had to fill up. Man, if it were at my work place, and I left my car running all day, it would, without a doubt be missing from it's parking spot when I got out of work that day.

Been thinking about this some more. You lucked out from a "stolen" perspective. And it's nice to know that 66 miles means the car is equal to "at least" eight good hours of idling time! I'm with the rest: doubtful you've hurt anything at all. I wouldn't make a habit of doing that, however... :wink2:

I work inside a small building and i can see my car from the parking lot from where i sit at work. The only way out is going passed the building i work so i would notice it if my car got stolen. I didn't notice it running when i got out because they are doing road work so i didn't notice it still running because of the noise outside and my Santa Fe doesn't have DRL so i had no idea. MY ego for sure took a hit but good news today is i have my KEYS next to me :)
