Remote Starter - Conflicting Information
I have a US 2009 Santa Fe Limited.
I would like to buy a remote start. I've called up the local best buy and a specialized alarm install shop.
I am being told that if I want a remote start I have to also purchase the kits that include an alarm system??
I was also told that the Santa Fe does not have a factory alarm system?? This is where I am confused, because when I press the lock button twice the horn beeps, is this not an alarm system?
The alarm store told me no cars come with factory alarm systems, and then I began to tell the person on the phone that my 2000 Grand Prix GTP did indeed come with a factory alarm system and I have tested it by kicking the tires and the alarm goes off... Additionally 10yrs ago I purchased a remote starter for my Grand Prix and they did not have to remove/disalble my factory alarm, the only thing they had to do was hide a key under the console because it was a chipped key (PK3).
So long story short, can somebody clear up my confusion??
1. Does the 2009 Santa Fe have an alarm?
2. Do i have to buy an alarm + remote start combo?
3. Do i need to provide a spare key?
4. What systems do people suggest? I don't need tons of bells and whistles, I just would like a remote start with good range, (and if i'm getting a alarm systems I would like to be able to unlock all 4 doors with 1 button press, pressing unlock twice drives me crazy)
