just noticed a whine in my steeering when turning right and left on my 2010 SE. sounds like I am out of power steering fluid but I checked the level and it looks fine. no signs of a leak. anyone else experiencing this?

Possible. PS pumps tend to 'groan' more often than 'whine' unless there are bad bearings involved somewhere.

When you do get it fixed, let us know what it was.

Well, turns out it was the power steering pump and it will be replaced under warranty. Unfortunately they didn't have the parts so I will need to wait and bring it in again.

Had the same issue with my '08 Santa Fe a few months after I bought it (new). . .when it was cold out it made a horrendous whine. . .dealer replaced the whole power steering unit under warranty. . .no problem since!

Those pumps are pricy ; but they seldom seem to go.

There is a mesh screen in thhe bottom of the reservoir of most pumps ; removing and or cleaning screen on high milage cars sometimes stops the whine. Warranties are nice to have up to 100k , not many companies do it.

ok, now after having the power steering pump replaced twice, i find the noise is back but now my fluid is blowing out the bottom of the car. Top off the fluid and drive to the dealership, noise has subsided. come to find out now I need a new rack for the rack and pinion steering. should have it in today, hopefully this is the end of the problems. in the meantime dealership has given me a 2012 SF GLS to drive. rides better than my 2010 SE but i'm sure missing the V6.

Well, got my SF back yesterday after the steering rack was replaced. All seems fine for now. Hopefully this is the last time I have to deal with this problem. Would have cost me over $1100 if I didn't have the warranty.
