Engine light came on a week ago, finally made it in to get the code pulled yesterday.

P0441

From reading on this site, thinking its a faulty purge valve.

I have found pics of its location on an 04, but cant seem to find it on my 08 2.7L. Can anyone describe or link me to a picture?

You'll find a pic (although very small in this case) and diagnostic procedure if you sign up for a free account at www.hmaservice.com. Hyundai keeps an extensive service database there. If you go to the "DTC" section there and look up the P0441 code, you'll find a photo of the engine compartment that shows your purge valve solenoid right next to the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. If you can find that, your golden.

There's also a separate section in the shop manual, under SANTAFE(CM) >2008 > G 2.7 DOHC > Emission Control System > Evaporative Emission Control System > Purge Control Solenoid Valve that covers this.

The gadget looks like this

#1 on the picture encircles a hose. When looking in my car thats exactly all I see at this location and still having trouble finding the piece pictured above. (purge valve)

On top of that, something wrong with the HMA website, will try again later.

Edit: the website isnt compatible with Firefox, looking now.

Hmaservice works for my with FF, but some of the pop-ups can be finicky with it. In regards to the circled area in the pic, did you check along the firewall in that general area? Reason I ask is, I believe the hose in that pic is for the brake vacuum booster. If it wasn't cold and rainy, I'd pop the cover off my 2008's 2.7L and take a look.

PIA to get to, the vavle is mounted on bracket that hose is too short to allow flex, so you almost need to break the hose..

New part comes with new piece of hose, and it is more pricey than regular valves of past..

Location... right beside where throttle body is bolted to intake, bracket bolted to underside of intake, but you can see the valve when you remove the air inlet tube from throttle body...

Enjoy....

You'll need to be certain you get that Adobe SVG viewer plug in, and then temporarily disable Flash in Firefox. For some reason, Flash tries to grab the SVG content and can't display it.

Alternately, if you've still got Internet Exploder around, you can use that for a browser long enough to do the job. However, I've had scroll bar problems with Firefox even with the plugin working...

Thanks everyone again. I found the valve but a very tight squeeze to get my hand in position to get it out.

Gonna get a quote from the dealer before venturing any further.

We just had ours changed out yesterday at the dealership we purchased the car. It was $111, to have this done, they did it while we waited, probably not even 30 minutes or so.

Just realized this thread was over a year old. Sorry about that.
