Just got a 2008 Santa Fe CDX+ Diesel 2.2 UK Spec, I have tried to read the manual regarding engine oil but am confused with the terminology of the oil section, just got the car don't know if it's got cat, partulate filter or what it's got! does not say in the paperwork. Anyone got one? can you help? I am kind of guessing Fully Synthetic Diesel Motor Oil 10W40 or maybe 5W40 ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard Crissage. My information is that all diesel SF run a catalytic particulate filter. This is essentially a reburner for exhaust gases and consists a ceramic reaction chamber which reduces engine emissions. Because of the CPF you need to use low sulphur fully synthetic oil, normal diesel oils will clog the ceramic surface and replacement cost here in Aus are around $7000 for the entire unit. Suitable oils need to be certified ACEA C3 usually 5W-30W. Hope this helps
