Intersection Left Turn-FM Station Change?

Doesn't do it on XM, and I don't listen to AM, HOWEVER:
Yesterday. Strange occurrence. Twice. Listening to a local sports talk radio station. Once while sitting at a red light. Left, inside turn lane. Light turns green, I turn. Station changes.

Second time, turning left off main Highway onto neighborhood street. Bang. Did it again.

Clockspring? Nav internals? I wouldn't have a clue. Will watch for recurrences over next several weeks for repeatability/duplication. Oil change end of month. Will bring it up to my service guy then, if it continues.

And does not occur on Bluetooth while in media mode. Just the FM band. I may try AM and see if I can get the same result. So, if CNN broadcasts video of some old grey-haired codger making continuous left turns in Okc...and if it is a white 2017 Elantra...

Ideas, gurus?

Yeah. Your cuff is hitting the button that changes the channel.

Could be worse. I hit the cruise control "Resume" function. I did it once at a stop light. The light turned green, I turned, shifted into second and hit "Resume" by accident.

It was set for 68 MPH.

Nope. No cuff. Nada. I just found the entire scenario strange. Started looking for a gremlin.

If you were listening to the Sports Animal, it could be your car telling you to switch to The Franchise.. just saying..

Actually, I WAS listening to my favorite: The Franchise. It dropped me one preset down to The Sports Animal. Of which, I'm not a big fan.

Eh...how do you bookmark posts here >digging around...got it< This will come in handy the next time an officer claims such an odd experience per his judgment call on my alleged jackrabbit start. It's one of those $hit happens life experiences. <-- It really does happen mwahaha

Okie, >Hilarious< perhaps divine intervention attempting to lead you away from FM radio. I thought there were better sports stations on xm...anyways, meh.

Clueless as to the cause if everything is apparent to the situation going on.

Then I'm all out of ideas. That was my best one.

In all seriousness, I would try to replicate it as best you can. It seems weird to me that it would only be for FM and not for XM, as the same electrical function is required to change the station as far as I understand. Could be wrong though, I can only turn a wrench. The only thing I can do with electronics is electrocute myself.

It sounds normal per owner's manual pg 4-6:

Quote:
FM broadcasts are transmitted at
high frequencies and do not bend to
follow the earth's surface. Because
of this, FM broadcasts generally
begin to fade within short distances
from the station. Also, FM signals are
easily affected by buildings, moun-
tains, and obstructions. This can lead
to undesirable or unpleasant listen-
ing conditions which might lead you
to believe a problem exists with your
radio.

The following conditions are
normal and do not indicate radio
trouble:

Station Swapping - As an FM signal
weakens, another more powerful
signal near the same frequency
may begin to play. This is because
your radio is designed to lock onto
the clearest signal. If this occurs,
select another station with a
stronger signal.
In other words, The Sports Animal kicked that weak signaled The Franchise off your radio!

Wouldn't surprise me.. that station is the worst. If you ever find yourself near OKC and like sports, avoid that station like the plague. I put a timer on them one day (before we got another sports station) and they had 8 minutes of commercials for every 6 minutes of their show. It's ridiculous.

Sorry, we are derailing Okie's thread. Sounds like this could be the problem, but I haven't had a similar experience and we listen to the same station. Not exactly apples-to-apples, but I do live further away from their station than he does.
