Default Copying music to internal memory of the Elantra GT Tech package?

Hello;
Have looked through a few 2013 Elantra GT threads and did not see anything;

I have read somewhere during my research that there was a way to copy music from a device to the internal memory of the tech package which comes with a nav system. I will be getting delivery of the Canadian SE tech package car in a few days.

Is it possible to copy music from a USB disk drive to the internal meory?

I have downloaded the US manual PDF, but there is little mention of how to use the nav system, music system etc. (I believe there is a separate manual for this system). There is a mention of a "6000 song limit", but I have read that you need to use an iPhone and one song copied at a time.

Search for My Music in the manual... It is for USB and MP3 CD, I think this excludes anything Apple-related (iPod/iPhone).

Thanks that helped. Looks like its one song at a time if the manual is worded correctly:

"Copy
Press the key Set [ Copy]
through the TUNE knob or
key.
This is used to copy the current
song
into My Music.You can play the
copied Music in My Music mode."

Didn't see anything in there about copying an entire folder, so hopefully it is just some strange wording in the manual.

Unfortunately, it's not. Unless there's a secret, undocumented way to do it...

Been discussed here a few times - basically single song copy is all that is available. Haven't heard there is any issue with copying from iPods and iPhones, but haven't tried it; only used the USB. My understanding is that you can copy from any source that is already in MP3/WMA format - it won't copy from CD.

BTW, I don't think MyMusic has anything to do with the tech package or nav. It's in the base model.

You can also copy to My Music from a CD-R loaded with your favorite tracks in MP3 or WMA format but one at a time. Again, I don't know about ipod formats. You can access different folders on the CD so I just leave a CD-R in the drive & transfer the ones I want as they play. You can use voice command to transfer them using the button on the steering wheel. Very easy.
You can not rip from a commercial CD. You must transfer them to MP3 or wma first & put them on a cd or USB stick. It may even work with blue tooth. Will have to try it.

I don't have a smartphone, but I just paired my iPad with the GT and while it would play streamed bluetooth music from the iPad, it wouldn't copy it to MyMusic. Also tried hooking up via a USB cable - also unable to copy.

One song at a time is a pretty big limitation.

Only solution I can see is leaving the USB drive in the port, and as each song comes up having the wife transfer the song over while I drive (wife hates driving while I enjoy it).

Eventually they will all be transferred over, but this seems like a rookie mistake on the part of Hyundai. Maybe there will eventually be a software update, but if this is not a nav/tech package exclusive and a part of the stock music firmware, I suspect it will not be updated unless you update to a 2014 altogether

It is, but I've always considered MyMusic to be a bit of a freebie and not something that I would consider as a primary place to store music. USB sticks are $5 now for 10x the storage in MyMusic, so not providing sophisticated means to manage MyMusic hardly seems like a big deal.

Agreed in some manners, but its still a shame to have a feature like that with a simple coding limitation.

I use a USB stick in my Touring now, but did not want it sticking out of the USB port. But I think I found something that is fairly unintrusive:
