Default New 2013 Elantra GT (Base). Audio Upgrades?

Hi everyone! I just got my first Hyundai and I love it so far. Rides smooth and gets pretty good gas mileage. Trying to break it in bc I drive about 5-600 miles a week.

Already put 20% tints on it. The stock system is actually quite good. But I am in the DC area and I am stuck in traffic about 2-3 hours a day commuting to back and forth to work. I am thinking of putting in new speakers.

Has anyone upgraded their speakers yet? Did you have to dynamat your car? I am looking into Focal components and coaxials in the rear ran through an amp. I listen to mostly hip hop and like clarity rather than just bass. So I'm not really planning on getting subs. Any suggestions/opinions on speakers are welcome too.

Thanks!

Lots of folks have changed out speakers...and you are right the stock system is more that adequate...it actually sounds pretty good.

I upgraded my front spekaers with Hybrid Audio Imagine comps, and added an ambiance tweeter to the sail panel. I also added 4 8" subs and amplifier....i did these IB, by replacing the hatch lid.

And i also drive 5-600 miles a week...so it was worth the time and trouble

Nice! Did you have to do any sound deadening to the car? Also, what size are your speakers? I am under the impression that both the front and rears are 6.5".

fronts and rears are both 6.5" and the HAT's and most other 6.5's will be a direct drop in. Check out the "component install" thread that i think is sticky'd.

I did some sound deadening, but not full on because i didn't want to strip the door down completely. There is a thread on that too. One guy did an amazing job deadening and threw up some pictures and instructions.

The good thing on the GT is the doors pop off like butter...2 screws and a tug and you are done.

Do you do car audio installs for a living? Or used to? I read that thread and you sure seem to know your stuff!

Thread is here BTW, for anyone interested (wasn't stickied, but SHOULD be). Good reading:

How do you like the Hybrid Audio Imagine comps? I have heard a lot of hype with Hybrid Audio, but have never heard them in person. There are also no dealers in my area to check them out . Did you get their subs too?
