Default Radio/Audio cold problems

Has anyone noticed problems with the radio in the cold weather, like minus 20? In the last few days the radio & whole entertainment system has been very sluggish when the car is
cold. This morning I spent my whole trip with the display showing the last tune I had played from the USB stick displayed, but no sound & no response from any of the buttons on the wheel or the radio. It only cleared when I restarted the car after it had warmed up. Even then, the screen took about a second to attain full brightness.
All was normal on my trip home. Just cold related I suspect, but none the less disconcerting.

LCD and cold weather do not mix. Low temps make the screens sluggish. Cannot help you on the other stuff.

Mine worked fine at -25 for the whole week... Only the display was very slow to refresh because of the LCD that was about to transform into SCD (solid crystal display)

Welcome Frelo!

You want to record your problem when it's doing it; otherwise good luck to get it fixed.

the only issue i have had with the -20 weather here in vermont this week was related to the turn signals not shutting off. Even when i manual returned them to the off position they still would flash. I could not shut them off at times...

But the radio and nav worked fine.

Thanks for the welcome & the input. I guess I'll have to pray for more minus 30 weather so I can get this fixed. ;-) Yeah right. Well, at least it works at normal temperatures or was last week the new normal. Hope not.

When I lived in a climate that got down to -20, I was thrilled if the car started, let alone whether the nav and radio were sluggish. Reasonable expectations....

I didn't relate the cold weather with my problems with the radio. I thought it was just XM messing up. It keeps playing music though, so I'm ok. I have had the whole radio restart one day in the middle of driving though.

Good news. The radio froze again yesterday. :-\ Fortuately I got a video of it screwing up. This morning, I went to the dealer, showed them the video & they are ordering a new radio today. Should have it by Thursday if all goes well. :-)
