Default Need steering wheel test please

Since my post about steering wheel failure is not being read I am making another post to ask fellow owner to perform simple test.

Please while stopped turn steering wheel all the way to right and all the way to left.

Is it in relative identical position for both extremes?

I am asking because I had steering column replaced and now on one extreme steering is upside down and on other it is almost sideways.

Also it does not look centered and it is pulling to the right.

I am going to the dealer tomorrow to have this looked at and this info would be helpful.

Thanks!

It needs the tracking adjusted correctly, seems that one trackrod end is adjusted threadwise more than the other.

Just checked my GT. There is a discrepancy between number of turns to the stops in each direction but it is small. Starting with the wheels straight ahead and the steering spokes level, it is about 1.4 turns to the stop to the left, and about 1.45 turns to the right. IOW, it comes slightly closer to having the spokes completely "upside down" when turning right.

My steering wheel requires a very slight tilt to the left when cruising down the freeway, but it is very small and most (perhaps all) of it is the slight left-turn steering necessary for the road crown. A slight pull to the right is more/less normal on typical crowned roads.

On the surface, it sounds like they screwed up the indexing of your steering wheel to the column when the replaced the parts. It's pretty common problem and usually easily correctable.

Just tried your test. The wheel is centered & identical at both extremes as I had expected.

Hope this helps.

I meant it pulls to the left which is against road camber typical right pull.

Thanks for the tests! I will be going in tomorrow and this definitely helps!

Cheers!

All seems to be fine now.
When I arrived I was told that they did perform wheel alignment last time, after I picked up the car they said wheel alignment was what fixed it this time(?). And they adjusted steering wheel for neutral position.
They showed me another GT that did not have steering wheel go in same position on both extremes so that might different from model to model.

All in all I have no idea if I got honest report of what was done but car is tracking better now so I'll leave it at that...

Thanks for everyone's help!
