Hello,
My wife is 5'4 and when the seat is adjusted properly in the stick-shift version of the GLS (our preferred trim) she can't touch the armrest and shifting into 4th or 6th, her elbow bumps the form-fitting seats. There is no question that this is the car we want to buy, but we need a solution to this problem. I haven't been able to find an after-market OR OEM armrest replacement and there seems to be confusion about whether the sliding armrest is available on this trim (dealer thought there was but couldn't find one to prove it). Is this a Canadian vs. US model disparity? How can we fix this problem? My wife is not supportive of the systematic breaking and healing of her shins to grow taller for some selfish reason, so we're looking for some kind of seat-adjusting, pedal modifying, arm-rest tweaking alternative. Otherwise we end up with an automatic and I may die en route to work from boredom... |

Not knowing your handycraft abilities, you might have to consult a custom car shop.
Or, build your own armrest-console, or you could make some snap-on pedal extenders, or make an S-bend shifter handle. My wife (5-3) has trouble getting the shifter out of park and doesn't even like driving my car, so I'm off the hook. |

I bought the GT Sport with tech (automatic) and we have a sliding armrest.
I dare say the GLS would, unless they would remove it for the manual version for some reason. Somebody here should see this thread and see if their manual GLS has the sliding arm rest in Canada. |

jallie. 5'4 isn't really that short; it's somewhat the average. Is there any way of adjusting the seat and the tilt steering? I was having some pain when I first got my Leaf, because I was driving in what I thought was a good position, but it really wasn't. Tweaking the seat position along with the tilt has made all the difference.

I bought the sliding armrest from a junkyard in the US (coming from a sedan limited) for $60. A new one cost 135$ from shark racing (Shark Racing)
The sedan design is a bit different from the GT so I believe this requires some partial disassembly of the top part of the armrest to adapt it to the GT. I have yet to install mine. |

6M GLS here, no sliding arm rest. Doubtful having a sliding arm rest would help. Would your wife prefer the arm rest be closer or farther back? The arm rest can't slide farther back than it already is on the GLS.
