This comes from someone who lives in a -25c at the end of December.

I would rate GT's heated seats as okay. The HI is too hot and the LO does not do much, my seat gets cold again. So I tend to go HI and then back to LO and then back to HI, which I don't think it's a good idea.

I prefer the heated seats in Journey, where the HI can be very hot after some time but then the LO is warm enough.

LOL, this is the reason why I hate (I know it's a strong word) leather seats, the "swamp"

I love the heated seats! And my wife won't smell my ass so I'm not sure of this swamp butt you refer to

We don't keep ours on! The wife just like it on for awhile to warm up the seats a little.
Maybe it is because we park in a garage, and it is B.C.

Is your GT one with cloth or leather?
I've boughten used high end cars with leather and navigation and after 5 years they really turned out to be a negative rather than positive.

The navigation becomes outdated, with little or no support for updates and the leather cracks and stretches and doesn't look nice at all.

So this made me get the cloth seats, which actually look real nice with the dual tone(black & gray), nothing like the MD's with the weird zebra or confetti print in the center of the seats.

I'm suprised that an electric car would have heated seats, does that put a significant dent into your car's range?

And I usually call it swamp ass, but I read this survival book by Cody Lundin the other day, where he refered to his B.O as that of a troll scrotum, so I thought I would give it a whirl.

I had no trouble getting a navigation update disc for my mom's 2002 Lexus RX300 in 2010 and her leather seats looked fine when she got rid of it a year ago with almost 120k on it. Guess it's all on how you take care of it.

Haha...so, I don't make a habit of smelling his butt, either! I can just smell it from several feet away. Smells like one of those dirty gym mats that has been used for years.

I agree with you about the leather and nav. Unfortunately, you cannot buy a Nissan Leaf WITHOUT nav, but cloth is mandatory. I'm not too worried about it since I am leasing, but long-term, I do agree that you are correct.

Believe it or not, using the heated seats and heated steering wheel have NO impact on the range. Many of the car's electronics are aided by a solar panel (which is an option on the SL, the higher-end model). The only thing that does have an impact is the car's climate control system, and whether or not you're driving it on ECO mode.

This is probably why some German (VW/Audi) cars went with a progressive control from 1 to 10 instead. It's a manual thumb roller control so it stays set even when the engine is turned off.

My wife's Hyundai Entourage has this same type of control and has 5 heat levels. Definitely nicer than the hi/low setup in the Elantra. Where I live I don't need them all too often, and typically a few minutes on hi and then a switch down to low does the trick. I guess if I lived in a colder climate I would care more about this, but to me they work and do everything I need. Heck there was a time when only luxury cars had heated seats. Quite a change that they come standard on an "economy" type car like the Elantra GT.
