Default Radio Questions- Bluetooth and iPhone 5

I am bringing my car in for first service and now that there are many folks with non-Nav radio want to confirm that the phones do not respond via bluetooth (or voice dialing) for outgoing calls unless the radio is turned on. Calls will still come in with radio off, however. Anybody having a different experience? Odd to me since my other cars can activate Bluetooth to call out with the radio off.
Also, looking to get iPhone 5. Folks having issues with calling or with playing iTunes via iPhone 5 and having full functionality on radio (i.e changing songs and having them show up on radio)? OK using Apple connector or need special cable/adapter?
Thanks All!

I have a Tucson, no nav, and my iPhone 5 works good, but you must use the Hyundai iPod cable with the lightning adapter that goes from the 30 pin to the new lightning connector, with steering wheel control and song info on the radio screen working as it should. Just doing a google on Hyundai and iPhone 5, I have seen others state the same for an Elantra.

If you try to plug the iPhone 5 into the USB port directly, it will not work and it will not charge.

The GT's a bit different, I'd try it with your regular cable first at least and see what happens. I use a standard USB to 30pin connect for my iPhone 4 and it works just fine, steering wheel controls, full info display and charging, I didn't need the specialized Hyundai iPod cable.

Same here. iPhone 4 works great.

BUT the iPhone 5 is a bit different and i have hurd it not working in some cars the same way a 4 works. So i cant help much.

You might have to get the "special" cable from Hyundai.

Apparently with the iPhone 5 you need to use the 30 pin to lightning adapter into the Hyundai cable for it to work properly. I'm sure Hyundai will have a lightning adapter cable available at some point down the road seeing that all new Apple stuff uses the lightning plug.

My Sister in law has a iphone 5. She was with us during some christmas driving and she used her lighting connector and it worked fine. Both for communication of commands, ie phone calls, and for streaming music. No problems at all.

I was able to get my ip5 recognized as an iPod to charge and play music and control the songs using the lightning cable. However, I have to use bluetooth to do the phone part. How did you get the phone part to go through the lightning cable as well?

The phone was hooked up through Bluetooth as well. So all the phone calls go though that. I meant more for the sending commands for songs and stuff.

Pretty sure all phone calls has to go through bluetooth because I don't think they can pipe audio back in to the phone itself through the USB port or audio jack.
