Exclamation Elantra GT - Passenger seat belt indicator - is it busted or a design omission?

Hi Folks, newbie here and just bought the Elantra GT. One curious thing I noticed was that when a passenger is in the front seat and isn't buckled in, tehre's absolutely no indication on the dash or the familiar beeping (after some time) that happens in other cars I've driven. Just thought this was very odd. Is this normal or is there a busted passenger side seat belt sensor?

There's no indicator for the passenger; I think it's the case for most cars or at least most compact cars.
