Default Installed INJEN SP1360P - SP Series Cold Air Intake System

Hi all,

I installed the Injen CAI a couple of months ago and I am really liking it. It looks much better than the plastic factory intake setup and makes a nice growl when getting the rpm above 3000, but it is quiet when driving "normally". I had an AEM intake on my 2003 Mazda Protege5 and so it was the first thing I did to this car when I got it.

The install was very easy to do, and you can access the fender through the wheelwell. I added a picture so you can see the install and finished product.

I find that the stock car lacks some punch and the intake helped lower the torque curve a bit so you have a bit more pop in the lower rpm's. It feels a bit more responsive than the stock setup, who knows if it is true or I am just imagining this

I bought it from CarID and shipping was quick and serice great. Any questions on install, let me know.
Cheers!
Kris

Thanks for the feedback! Is the filter small? It just looks a little small in that one pic by the wheel well.

Hi Alex,

The filter is not too small. It looks smaller because it is well inside the wheelwell. I would say it is 6 inches wide at the bottom, 5 at the top, and around 7 inches tall. Oh yeah, it is a dry filter so no need to oil it, which is nice. About the same size as my old AEM intake on my Mazda.

It sounds sweet though!!!

How hard was this to accomplish? I recently removed the "snorkel" from my old Elantra and it was a pain to accomplish, but the car is very happy to be able to breathe for once.
Does the new GT have a resonator box in the fender like the older models that must be removed to make room for the filter you placed there?

Also, were there vacuum lines and other stuff that had to be removed or re fashioned in? Any CEL issues? Looks like a clean install.

Thetre were a few lines attached to the "snorkel" in the fender that could be removed by unclipping the clips holding it in place. I may have cut one before i figured out how to get them off.

This was a very easy install. The old stuff came off easy and there were jus a few stubborn bolts that can't be accessed unless you take off the bumper (pain in the arse), or go through the fender like I did (way easier). Everything goes together very easily and I had no problems at all. I would encourage anyone who is thinking of doing this to do so. Great bang for the buck.

Hey Canuck,
Yup, I got the 6M. Not sure there is much of a difference in mileage. At first it was much worse b/c i was always on the gas to hear the sweet intake sound.
