Anyone ever hear a funny noise when they first start the car when cold? I'm assuming it's the power steering motor - just kind of whirrs up for a second or two after power comes on then goes away.
Starting to get cold in the mornings now so want to see if anyone else has heard it. |

I did, until I switched to synthetic.

Mine also had the whirling sound upon a cold start-up (about 75% of the time). It disappeared at about 5000 miles and after my first oil change. I actually made an appointment with my dealer to look into it when I went for the oil change, but cancelled it when it no longer was happening. Now i am wondering if the oil change caused it to disappear.

Yep, noticed it too. Only became apparent when weather got chilly and I was doing cold start-ups.
I'm due for my first oil change in about two weeks, planning to put synthetic in there. Will see if it goes away after that like most people are reporting. |
