I have a base Elantra GT with tan interior cloth seats.
I had the misfortune of some melted chocolate to come into contact with the passenger's seat. The chocolate was removed and cleaned promptly with 3M upholstery foam cleaner, but a stain remains, right in the center of the seat (on the heated strip). My passenger seat is permanently stained ![]() On the other hand, my wife's Honda CRV brown cloth interior is holding up nicely to our 2 boys, as is our friend's Nissan Quest light tan fabric, both of which have been exposed to numerous juice and milk spills, food soils, mud, etc. No permanent stains. What is your experience with the cloth seats? Are they more maintenance compared to other brands? |

Unfortunately, in both the regular Elantra and the GT, the seats are NOTORIOUS for holding onto stains.
Seat covers, my friend. Or at least some sort of sealant. My Elantra had leather, thank goodness. Nissan Leaf has the lightest seats ever, which I was terrified would stain, but so far they seem pretty resilient. Just mentioning it because you also mentioned your friend's Quest.

Hmm not good news. My former Fiat was notoriously bad re: upholstery stains, was hoping these would be better.
303 fabric protector. Do not use Scotchguard. As for the existing stain, try cleaning the entire panel, not just the stain/spot. The Fiat was so bad water would mark the fabric, you had to moisten the entire surface then let dry. When I saw the tan interior it made me think hmmm pretty light color to keep clean long term. Good luck. |
