The Canadian GT's are very limited on interior colour.... black fabric for the GL and GLS or black leather for the SE models. No other colours. I feel it is because our market is 1/10th the size of yours, they limit the colour combinations. I think we still have the same exterior colour choices.
There are a number of other minor differences between the CDN and US models.... so far I am not aware of anything extra on the CDN models to brag about (LOL) except I am happy not to have TPMS which is mandated in the US.
I have to say I wish the manual transmission was available in the SE trim models in Canada. I made a choice between spending a lot more $$ for the Tech package with the required automatic vs a manual transmission I preferred but available only in the GL and GLS trim. I went the SE Tech route... and am enjoying my choice thus far.

Canadian GT's get Misty Green as well for colour, that is not available in the US. Also, Canadian Hyundai's come with spare tires whereas American Hyundai's get a tire repair kit and a pump instead to save weight.

I'm a mid 40's guy who does about 400 km a week. The gas in my F150 was killing me so I decided to buy something more fuel efficient as my winter vehicle. The truck is amazing in the winter but my new GT uses 1/3 of the gas the truck does and is still pretty good in the snow.

some answers:
Why European Diesel Cars Are Not Available in the U.S.: Scientific American

Culture plays a huge role, too. In Europe, where gas is more expensive than it is in America, and where tight streets and a lack of parking encourage the use of smaller cars, small cars have always been more popular than they have been in the States, as have diesel engines. Not to mention, European ride and handling tastes are different than Americans. And there's a perception that not only are Americans carrying more cargo, but our human cargo is larger, too.

Both me and spouse are 59. Good car for our age- good seats and easy to get in and out of.
