Default 2013 Azera "Media Connection Error" with iPhone 5 (iOS 6) & USB Port

Just purchased a 2013 Azera. When I connect my iPhone 5 (iOS6) via the USB port I get a "Media Connection Error" message on the navigation screen. The phone does connect via Bluetooth just fine.

My wife has a 2013 Veloster and this works without any issues.

Any ideas?

-Chris

Are you using the hyundai branded iPod cable? You won't be able to use the cable that came with your iPhone. Also, with the iPhone 5 you need to use the dock adapter.

I do not have the Hyundai cable. I guess I will need to pick one up. I already have the 30pin to lightning adapter.

My dealer provided the cable at delivery. You might ask.

Only if it was included in package (optional) listed in window sticker.

Hyundai cars with Nav need the special Hyundai cable. In addition, you will need the 30 pin to lightning adaptor.

If you have an iphone 4, you just need the Hyundai cable. If you have an iphone 5, you need the Hyundai cable, and also the 30 pin adapter so you can connect the Hyundai cable to the lightning pin jack on your phone. Get the genuine Hyundai cable, and also a genuine Apple 30 pin adapter if you have the iphone 5.

I just got a 2013 Azera w/ Tech pkg. I am using the Hyundai cable, and it works perfectly.

Until you get the cable and adapter if necessary, you can enable Bluetooth streaming in the Nav system's Phone menu. The sound will be fine. The only downsides to that are no song info, and no charging.
