AGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!!
And I've only been driving my 2 mile 20 mph commute to work! I don't get how I got this chip. And the paint was chipped all the way to the white primer or whatever that is. I never saw a rock get kicked up either. Any suggestions how to fix? Touch up paint leaves a blob. Happy Thanksgiving all! VP Last edited by Vicious-Poodle; 11-21-2012 at 05:00 PM. Reason: typo |

I have a 2013 Black Sonata SE and the 2nd day at home parked in the driveway my neighbors oak tree had dropped acorns from 50 feet and I now have 20 dings all over the car!!! Then a week later noticed a rock chip in the paint and bought the black paint pen from the dealer (10.99) and it covered the chip and now you cannot tell a rock had hit the hood. Now what to do about the 20 acorn dings?????

Get a regular round tip paint brush and put it on in thin layers. After you are done and it hardens lightly wet sand it and than polish out. It is not that easy to do but go for it if you think you feel comfortable doing it. You can go to a paint shop and have them do it but it will cost you and it may not come out any better than you doing it yourself.

Call me Mr. Lucky but I will no longer try and protect my car with bra, seat covers, etc. I paid all that money to enjoy it myself but not preserve it for the next owner. With my Sonata I have been more than fortunate, yet I do very little to keep it looking new. With my first new car I was semi-paranoid. Back then I applied a heavy coat of the old-fashioned hard wax. It was so impervious to attack it seemed unreal. Living in the southwest at the time it was always bug coated. The heavy wax coat allowed me to just rinse them off with cold water. It was fabulous. It's always that first ding, chip or scratch which sends us into a rage. Only solution is to get it home, garage it and never drive it.
