Hello friends! I am a new member and new owner of a beautiful 2013 2.0T.
Is anyone out there with the 2.0T in California? I am disappointed with gas mileage and am interested in a cold air intake. Only problem is no one makes one....yet. I have been in contact with Injen and they will gladly design the cold air (other people have called and asked...) if someone will let them design with their car for 5 days. I know that's a lot but I feel it is worth it. Plus you get a free cold air out of the deal I would do it..except I'm in Florida....The performance benefits and gas mileage increase would be a great mod for this car. If you're in Cali and interested...contact me ASAP!!!! Thanks friends look forward to posting!

It probably has a CAI as standard - I thought most cars did these days anyway - European models do.

It doesn't, although the 2.0T has a nice front mount intercooler, there is a giant rectangular air box that sits atop the engine bay. It would easily be converted to a short ram intake, but it's the Cold Air i'm after...!

Where is the ambient inlet to the airbox/aircleaner?
I haven't had a standard car without CAI for a couple of decades - usually positioned just behind the front grill.

The other advantage of a grill mounted air intake is that it becomes a ram-air intake as well - although that's only marginally beneficial on a turbo road car.

I actually looked at this yesterday when I was washing the car and I rinsed off the engine. So where the air comes in at the grill then goes into a round box on top of the battery then into the air filter compartment.
What is the round portion over the battery for? You would think just air straight to the filter would be good plus you would not have something else to remove when changing the battery? |

Whatever comes out soon, I hope it will be a true cold air intake, not some cheap tube and filter sitting opened in the engine bay sucking in hot air.
Stock is cold, so it's pretty good as it is, for now all we can use is the KNN drop in air filter.

Absolutely love the 2013 Santa Fe (with Tech), best value CUV out there and best looking inside and out. Waiting to see what changes will be made in the 2014 model before taking the plunge. (driving the wife's 2012 Kia Forte for now) |

Joe,
Agreed. Hopefully someone in California will come forward so Injen can do R&D on their vehicle and we can get Cold Air with no restrictions. Window sticker says 20 City, 27 Hwy, 23 combined. I never even turn on the A/C compressor and use my toe to accelerate in FLAT Florida and barely get 19mpg combined. Oh well. I will get the K&N filter in the meantime, should help some.

I'm kind of resigned to accepting that the 2.0T is just not going to ever be a really efficient engine - bought an AWD vesrion before the EPA mandated revision and in hindsight the 3.3 in the LWB is probably a much better all around engine choice. The 2.0T is just retraceting the path of some other makes (Acura RDX, Mazda CX5) who offered small displacement turbo charged engines that offer a nice fat torque curve but suck the gas down when you make use of that power. |

Would love to see Injen produce a cold air intake for the Santa Fe. I've had one of their intakes on my Mazda 3 since it rolled off the lot in 2004, and it's been fantastic.
