Hi:
I cannot get heat in the back seat area until the car has been used for an hour or so. The front vents are very hot...but the back blows cold air. Anyone else having that issue? |

We noticed that in both of ours. Tried multiple settings and gave up. Perhaps, even though its not worked this way in previous cars, they are only for circulation.
Either way the front puts out enough heat for the whole interior and they have heated seats back there too. Sent from AutoGuide.com App |

I think the vents in the back in the pillars are mainly for A/C. Even the A/C gets warmer by the time it gets there so I would image the heat would cool on the trip back there as well. I think there are heat ducts under the front seats for heat for the back.
I did notice this summer that they did not blow very hard even with the A/C maxed out. Pretty disappointed on the way they perform. Plus I am so tall the back of the driver seat is reclined and partially blocks the vents. I think rear vents in the back of the center console with seperate controls would be better. Still loving the Santy! |

I recall reading in the manual that the pillar vents should be closed when using the heating system. The manual said something about heat being lost by the time it got back there. It mentioned that there were vents under the front seats that would provide heat to the rear. Pillar vents are just for use with the AC or to circulate fresh outside air. I closed mine after reading this and I ask passengers to leave them off when the heat is on.
![]() Just looked it up. It's on page 4-125 of the manual. Last edited by HoseHead; 01-26-2013 at 03:13 PM. |

I simply open the pillar vents when taking 2nd row passengers and close them afterwards - seems to work well enough for us.
Pity there's no way of switching the under seat vents off when there's only 2 people in the car.

On our way home yesterday with a person in the second row she said she was freezing. We were roasting in the front. Tried to turn the fan speed way up to get more air flow back there. When we placed our hand by the inboard seat tracks (under the front seats and in front of the second row) we could feel air moving but it was significantly cooler than the air coming out from under the instrument panel for the front seat passengers. I need to look up the schematic to understand the system. |
