A zero deductible for comprehensive on your insurance policy typically costs very little. I had the same experience as you and changed my policy afterwards.

I was very excited to see this post right now but unfortunately it went in another direction. Instead of starting a new thread I will tell you my story. So my car is now 3 weeks old 1500km. Today was the 1st snow fall that the car has seen. Work ended at 4pm. I sat in the car as I was excited to use the windshield wiper heater thing and turned on front and rear as everything melted off the car. As I moved off I know it was not there before a long crack on the driver side. I think stemming from the base of the windshield. I will be at the dealer first thing in the morning and hope they dont give me any problems. I do not see any chips that would indicate some kind of impact. I must admit am nervous but hoping for the best. I think the hot and cold cracked it. Today was -14c or 17f

Things like $0 glass deductible and rental car reimbursement are only a couple of dollars for each policy period at most companies, and when needed, they are worth it ten fold! I haven't paid for a glass replacement on any car in my lifetime, and there have been probably 6 or 7 of those.

Update: There was a stone chip close to the base where the black part is clearly visible to me now. May have been there for a couple days but when the heat hit the glass with the cold equals long crack. Went over insurance papers and see nothing about windshield you guys are right I am guilty going to give them a call. Dealer mentions no one has winshields in Toronto for new Santafe they have been looking.

My insurance covered the repair of a rock chipping my windshield around Thanksgiving. Tiny crrack was repairable so I opted for the repair. No deductible.

Whaht I am being told is the insurance companies cover stone chips as this is quickly repairable and prevents a full blown windshield replacement. Had i seen the chip i could have prevented this. Now this leads to some research I have done. The last 3 cars I had came with bug deflectors. I wonder if this was helping with the stone chips. I may invest in one at the same time the repair is being done.
