Default Shiting into 4th,5th and 6th...2.0T

Any one else notice with ECO on or off that the shift points to 4th,5th and 6th are way too long, too many RPMs?

Past couple of days I have been manually shifting to 4th,5th and 6th a little faster than the transmission would have and the engine sounds better and even getting better mpg.

I am consistantly getting 21mpg city which is about all I do, little to no hwy. Once I fill up again I will trying to do the manual shifting to 4th,5th and 6th for a whole tank and see if I get better mileage.

BTW, not manually downshifting that seams fine as well as 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts good.

Wonder if the dealer can change (reprogram) the shifting points, doubt it.

Yup, I`ve been doing that for the last 300 miles....

In drive, the shifts seem to take place between 2100 to 2300 RPM`s or even higher....I shift manually 1st thru 6th, at 1900 to 2000 RPM`s...There is no engine 'lugging', and as you say, the engine sounds better...

RPM`s = gas consumption, so it`s gotta help with that...Another side benefit (to me) is that it`s kind of fun to shift manually.....My 2 cents....Cheers

Thank you. Really needed a good chuckle after a cr@ppy morning at work (pun intended).

That said, as soon as I read the title, it did conjure up some rather "messy" images....
