Why couldn't we have gotten the gun metal wheels?
Like the style and size of what we have but think the painted silver makes them look cheap. Would rather them be plain polished metal, chrome to match the door handles and around the winows or the gun metal like these to match the grey plastic around the bottom.... Might just have to do a chrome exchange.... |

Sorry 7up, but I found it on a thread on this site and the thread was called something like "90 pictures of the new Santa Fe" and I thought it was around October. Just went back through and could not find the thread.
But these are the same wheels that were in all of the pre-production pictures that we all saw. I think they are also the wheels that they get overseas along with a lot of other options we do not get. The more and more I see stuff that other countries get really upset me that we pay a pretty expensive price for a Hyundai and we do not get these options..... |

I think I posted that thread you were talking about. It had those wheels that aren't available in the North American market. If you purchased those from overseas...the shipping would be amazingly expensive.

I think there is a company in California that will chrome such wheels. I would check ebay. I've seen several such listings. But you have to send your own wheels to be sent to them. You'll need temporary wheels to tide you over until the process is complete. My personal opinion is that painted alloys look just fine. But that's just me. What I really like about my 17" wheels is that they just don't show the brake dust. I've never washed them in six months. But I would surmise the 19" wheels are not as forgiving. And you'll sure see the grime on chrome wheels. Something to ponder.

I was really disappointed to find out that the US Turbo was shipping with plain, silver painted wheels, and not the hyper-silver which was shown at the auto show introductions. I also saw these wheels back in July, on one of the first Santa Fe's to show up in the parking lot over at Hyundai's Design Center in Irvine, CA...I took this picture, because I thought they were so sharp:
