Buy Santa Fe

After test driving all the SUVs available out there we liked Satan Fe a lot. We are very interested in getting Turbo version with front wheel drive. The last price that I got from the Dealer is 33,000 including tax fully loaded with the premium package. I just wanted to see what you all think is a good price for this model or how much did you pay. I was thinking to negotiate and offer them 28,000 out to door. What you all think.

Most new car buyers are going to pay 3-9% off the MSRP unless the model was discountinued. I would go to TrueCar.com to see what the average discount is going for now. I paid invoice for the same car at approx 32K from the 33,990 MSRP back in September. I don't think 28K is realistic. the dealer needs to make a profit.

I used Edmunds.com True Market Value site and it helped me decide on my bottom line price. I don't consider Tax, Title and documentation fees with the price, I only want to negotiate the price for the vehicle first. I'll tackle those items once we have agreed on the vehicle price. Be a firm negotiator, the larger dealers always have a dealer hold-back on every vehicle they get off the lot.
In my experience, it really helps to have your own financing approved first, cause they always try to make up their discounted price with their in-house banking. I purchased the 2.0T AWD, so I can't help you with that offer. Best of luck!

You might be looking at $32K OTD as the lowest. If you think 28K is acceptable, you're are wrong. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there isn't as much markeup as you may think. For the car as you described, you're looking at an MSRP of ~$30150 (excluding delivery) which would put the invoice ~$27.5-28000 (guess). + the $845 cost of delivery which cannot be negotiated. Chicago sales tax rate of 9.5%, which also can't be negotiated. So right there, even without the documentation fee, you're looking at $31.1-31.6K OTD.
If you want 28k OTD you'd be looking for an invoice cost of 24.7K +845 shipping. I'm sorry, it's not going to happen. |

Just negotiated a 2.0T/AWD with leather and technology packages for $32,640 this weekend. That's out-the-door but before tax/title/license. I had to really shop around for it too. I think 28k for a 2.0T/FWD with leather/tech packages is pushing it.

Back in November I got a 2.0T AWD with leather, technology and factory tow hitch for $32,000 before tax, license, and documentation fee; only 1 dealer would do it and no other dealers would match.

Bought FWD 2.0T with leather package (not tech) and carpet mats, wheel locks and cargo cover for $29,800 at end of December.
Then got a $750 deduction for being current Hyundai owner, so $29,080. Then, paid tax, and $250 title and tax fee. I had a trade in that dealer initially offered me $13,000--got him up to $16,000 for it. Last edited by Buffett0462; 01-07-2013 at 11:08 PM. |

"Fully loaded" with "premium package"...
Hard to tell exactly what you are getting but if you meant "Leather & Premium" (they come together on the 2.0T) then you are looking at about $29,708 invoice, give or take a few dollars with a sticker of $31,225. If you meant Leather & Premium and the Tech package then the invoice is $32,388 and sticker $34,175. Either way; $28,000 out the door is not going to happen. If it does, get two and I will buy the other one. |

Our Sport FWD 2.0T with Leather and Premium package had sticker of $31,225. We leased it for 3 year -36,000 miles. Lease based on purchase price of $29,013 after $500 rebate. $3,000 down including first month payment. $295 per month.
Dealer paid taxes and threw in a few add-ons totaling about $800 retail. Title fee $16.00 and registration fee $64.00. Dealer found exactly what we were looking for at another dealership. Sport had 161 miles on it when we picked it up. Four days from the time we made the deal to picking up the car. Our first new car. Got it 3 weeks ago and so far we are very happy with it. |
