Well im really not looking to change the headunit at all ... would rather not have to mess with that. Is it possible to just tap into a rear speaker and then hook up the amp there? Isnt there some type of converter or something that you can use? I thought i have seen that in other vehicles ...I dont want like loud booming bass, just something to give a little bump in the car ... thats all

I was thinking a good amp to help the OEM unit out.

I have the base stereo, and I had a Kenwood Excelon XR-W12F 12" shallow mount subwoofer mounted under the cargo area in the rear hatch. It is powered by a Kicker 400.1 Mono Amp. It is hooked to the factory head unit. I removed the foam cargo divider under the floor in the cargo area, and mounted the sub in the same enclosure I had under the rear seat in my 08 F150 crew cab. It sits flush when the cargo cover is folded back down. I do still need to build some reinforcement bracing to help support the cargo floor closest to the hatch now that the foam divider has been removed, or trim the foam divider to fit, but the stereo sounds great. I attached some pictures below.

Good job. You did this yourself or had it done by an auto/audio store?

I had the amp installed at a local car audio shop, I wasn't exactly sure how to hook it to the factory head unit. The installer had no issues.

Default More powerful amp

Can a more powerful amp replace the OEM one with the Tech package, easily DIY? Especially something that will give the subwoffer more power. I cannot even hear the sub?

Default Weak volume infinity 7 sound system

Hi All,

I just got my Santa fe sport limited (Canada) and was wondering about the sound system. I think the limited comes with the 550 Watt system and sub, but the sound is very low when volume is set loud and not what I would expect from a 550 watt system. Could my amp be defective? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks!

I've noticed my premium [Infinity] system is definitely disappointing in low bass output.... but I must admit it's smooth as silk and spacious otherwise. Love this new car..

I had been using an external sub in the old Accord and it should be ideal in my new SF:
BassLink Powered subwoofer: 200 watts and a 10" sub [even the 'badge' matches..]

Wiring it should be "interesting".

Patel, have you tried all of the different sources and USB too? No increase in volume?

It's possible to do it the way you're talking. you'll need a subwoofer WITH a crossover to eliminate the highs going to the back speakers. You can then either tap into the existing wires of one speaker for power, or both. If both, you'll tap into the positive of one, and the negative of the other. That way you'll get power coming off of both speakers.

The best way would be to get an amp and sub and run the wires from the head unit. You'll be much more pleased.

No reason to change the head unit at all as a matter of fact either audio control or JL Audio Clean sweep are superb processors that would allow you to add amplifiers, The one thing to keep in mind the cheaper the product you buy the worse it will sound so if you want clarity then buy the better product. Boss, Dual, and many others are very cheaply made and suffer greatly in sound quality. Even a stock radio can sound great if the equipment behind it is decent quality. If you want to save money then go on eBay and buy good used product like JL Audio or Eclipse are my 2 favorites but there are quite a few i have seen for really awesome prices.
