Default Winter tire size

So I have searched and even called the dealer. They told me I can't run 16" tires on my 2.0t. Even though it came with 17" not the 19". I've always downsized my winter tires on all my cars. It certainly makes searching kijiji easier. Has anyone put on a 16" rim/tire combo? When I've called around town I'm always getting quotes for 225/65/17. It also seems like rims from other Hyundai's like the sonata will also fit. I'm trying to save a little money and find a used set but with the car being so new I can't seem to get a definitive answer yet.

I run 16's on my '12. I would think the new SF should as well. Unless the calipers and disc are bigger.

Did you try crappy tire?

Agree with John...16 should fit, and the likely only issue is clearance for the brake components. The only way to know for sure might be to do a test fit of a wheel on your SF.

When you run the 16s, does it throw off your speedometer and odometer readings?

Checked out tirerack.com. They do not show a 16" combo for the 2013 model, but do for the 2012. Seems there are some clearance issues.

No, as long as you maintain the same overall diameter you are fine. Stock is 235/60/18 and winter is 235/70/16.

Guys ,

My wife bought the 2013 SF 2.0t limited(not delivered yet, maybe next week) and to my surprise I tought I can use the 16" ones from the 2009 to the new SF, but when we brought them to the dealer to have them ready to be installed on the new SF the tehnician said that the 16" wouldn't fit and now I need to buy the full kit of 17". To be honest I'm no too sure as the car didn't arrived and that was what techinian said and I have to take back the winter wheels.

Before I buy a new kit , I may ask them to really try it to see it with my eyes.

If somebody else has a sure answer , it will save me the hassle and go buy a full kit , which is quite exepensive about 1100 to 1300 $ with wheels here in Quebec. If somebody knows other options , I'm open to try it.
Thanks

it's a clearance issue.

depends. Need to know the wheel offset from the hub (e.g. distance between the back of the wheel to the hub) as well as the total diameter of the caliper/brake assembly.

I know for a fact the 19" wheels are "oversized" but I think 17"s should be within tolerance.

PS> thank you mods for editing my comment. Didn't know that process existed here. helps keep me "honest"
