In case you wondering about what measurements I mean.
![]() Depth is 19 1/2 inches and height at front is 12 1/2 inches. Hopefully the SantaFe will get close. |

Had my afternoon withe the 2.0T today.
It went reasonably well. What would have made it better would have been more seat control on the passenger side, I.e. some seat cushion tilt. I'm going to explore if it's possible to permanently raise the front of the seat rails. Any thoughts on that? |

Just passenger side. The drivers' is real close to good comfort so I think I can adjust myself to it with a bit of time.
The passenger side on the other hand really needs a 6 or 8 way option ![]() Since I'm only adjusting for one person a permanent adjustment is acceptable if doable. |

Well, put a deposit on a Titanium 2.0T Limited today, subject to color approval since I changed it from Red
![]() Gotta keep the peace. Also subject to another test drive at hi-way speeds so I think I have myself covered, just in case. |

Being a mechanic at a Hyundai/Subaru dealership, I think the Hyundai is a better deal. I was a Chrysler/Jeep mechanic, and love the later Jeeps, and have been a Honda fan when talking daily drivers. I'd never considered a Hyundai until the past couple years with their redesign of the Sonata. The new Santa Fe rolled off the trucks, and I wasn't a fan personally but I realized how reliable and well the new powertrains are doing in the Hyundai's so I told the wife about them. Week or so later we are buying one.
Basically, long story short, I don't know how much you value a mechanic's opinion, but I'd go Hyundai over Subaru. I've driven a few of the Subaru's with the collision prevention technology in them and I don't like it, but I guess I'm a pretty aware driver and I don't like interference of computers/etc. while I'm driving. Hyundai has won me over, although I do still love the simplicity, reliability, and cost of ownership of my Honda, and would want an older Jeep for a real tow and off-road worthy SUV, the Santa Fe is exactly what we want it to be. It's great on gas for its size, gives us a ton more room than our Honda's, and should be reliable and cheap to maintain as proven by the track record of the new Sonata's which are basically the same thing. |

All done.
Hope to take delivery of a Titanium Silver 2.0T tomorrow, hopefully. Might have to wait 'till monday ![]() Anyways, thank you all for your comments. Once I take delivery I'll start a new thread with first impression coming from Lincoln MKZ to SantaFe. I expect there will be "adjustments" but hopefully once all done and the smoke clears it'll all be good. It'll be interesting to see what Lincoln "niceties" I might miss. Have already accepted that BlindSpot Monitoring will be no more, but that's not all bad as more times than not it just made one more anxious when you can't find out why the darn thing was beeping. Too bad that Canadian SantaFe comes without TPMS but that's an easy aftermarket fix so all is good for now. |
