Navigation / MM System wish-list

I've had my loaded 2013 Santa Fe Sport 2.0T FWD for just over a week now and am pretty happy (except for MPG stuff.) Since I love high-tech stuff and have a computer programming background, I've had quite a few thoughts that started with:

"Boy, this nav/mm system is great , but I can't believe Hyundai left out _________ option or feature. It doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to implement."

Much of this is just eye candy, but hey ... why NOT?

Here's my list so far....

1. Customizable background image / color scheme for all screens, not just the "Off" picture frame display.
2. Related to #1, the clock screen should be the picture frame with the clock watermark on top.
3. Avatar for each key fob. Integrate a small icon on main screens that shows who is present.
4. 3D Map view, not just "always up"
5. Car should log on to available WIFI (in garage or mobile network from phone) for updates and "live" POI searches.
6. Customizable map vehicle icon
7. Customizable turn signal and other sounds.
8. Eco report / driving quick-tips based on actual usage on start-up.
9. Option for seat warmers to return to same setting upon start. (remote start is great, but it'd be even better if seat warmers would automatically turn on, too.)
10. Create an "advanced" option menu in the "setup" screen where just about everything is tweakable. If it doesn't impact safety, then why not?

Definitely agree with 4 and 6. These are staples on almost all the portable GPS units. Don't understand why OEM units don't seem to have them. I feel it is much easier to follow the 3D map. And my wife (it's her SF) is always jealous of my aftermarket Kenwood/Garmin in my Sonata with its car symbol.

Some good ones there that I've asked for as well, but I'd also add that the "Shuffle" state either be remembered or you are allowed to set its default. Every time I turn on the car I have to put the car back into shuffle mode to play random songs off the USB stick, it's annoying.

I saw some aftermarket 8" touch screen nav units for this dash on e bay that might address some of the items your wish list. I've decided to stick with the stock unit without nav for now.

If the car is opened to wifi connections, then there could be an "app store" feature.

For example, I figured I'd be able to keep track of service as gas purchase logs in the computer, but the feature isn't there. That could be a useful app.... (Instead, I signed-up for fuelly.)

With the panaramic sunroof, a ceiling-mounted video screen isn't possible for the kids. Sure would be great to be able to watch videos on the 8" screen. I understand there are legal concerns, but there has to be a way for Hyundai to make the feature available and also CYA.

The video watching is available in Korea, so, it's possible. It's just a legal reason why they can't allow that in the US/Canada. If you were thinking about purchasing a Korean nav system, the maps are only of Korea, though the map data is on an SD card. If you wanted to take a huge risk and try to install a Korean based nav unit into your car and hope the US map data works seamlessly, good luck. I do believe the menu's can be in English as well.

If we had a Santa Fe available, I'd tell you to make a copy of your map data and put it on another SD card and mail it to us to test on the Korea Santa Fe nav...but unfortunately, we do not have one to mess around with. I'd have to go to a dealership to test it, but not all dealerships have every model on display (the system is different here).
