I wonder why they replaced the entire fuel tank assembly; that's a $765 part? Seems like the sender unit should have fixed it if the cluster electronics are ok? Any comment on that?

All I know is that for 2 months my first few bars were depleting after 8-10 gallons and that was very fustrating. Can't compute MPG, not being able to go longer distances without always going to a gas station, and the biggy not knowing how much fuel you actually have at any given day. Now the first bar drops after 30-40 miles, I can now use the vehicle to its fullest capacity. I only share this information with the rest of the world since it appears my vehicle been the first to do so. Yes, there is a fix. Maybe Hyundai engineers can ask my service center what they did? Recall??? Who knows??? MIles driven on full bars.JPG miles left on full bars.JPG |

Eco on - 26.8 Eco off - 26.2 I know it's another thread but this is related to this fuel gauge issue. Last edited by aero77; 11-12-2012 at 06:28 PM. |

Aero77,
Concur that the two issues are quite probably related. My car indicated mpg is optimistic by 2.5-3.0 mpg compared to hand calculated numbers. I have a Scanguage II mounted on the top of the steering wheel cover, and the OBD outputs for both instantaneous mpg and average mpg do not agree with the car data presented on the center display. The differences are rather large. Really makes one wonder, as those parameters were in very close agreement on my previous vehicle. Is this situation a sub plot associated with the top level story of incorrect EPA test reporting? Last edited by johndixs; 11-12-2012 at 09:30 PM. Reason: Typo |

Matt,
Scanguage mpg is lower than manual calc, by 4-5 mpg. Makes no sense, of course, unless the Scanguage coding has an error, or if there are some very basic software problems with the on board calculation. The Nav system GPS miles/ hour compares perfectly with the speedometer, so I am assuming the raw mileage calculation is accurate. |

I will ask my dealer if there is a certified "fix" now for the problem. |
