Purchased a new 2.0T Santa Fe this weekend. While driving it home from the dealership noticed a loud wind noise between 60-80mph. We took it back to the dealership within 30 minutes and talked to the service manager. They put us in a loaner Genisis and said they would take the front end apart and see where the noise was coming from. The dealership called back this morning and said they can't figuer out what/where the noise is coming from but they do agree it is a wind noise.. They are offering to swap the vehicle out with another one next week when it is delivered. Anyone else notice a high pitched noise while driving on the freeway?
Thanks, |

I thought it was because Santa Fe was not as aerodynamic as Sonata(2012, our current car). That was actually what the sales rep said(though he doesnt know much, didnt know backup camera came with leather package etc). I'm interested if this is standard throughout all Santa Fe's. |

I was originally checking for road noise(ie..bumps) as my Sonata SE is very noisy and I feel everything on the road. I had a dB app recording etc. But the wind noise ONLY at EITHER side mirrors were evident but extremely noticeable especially on highway speeds. Originally I agreed with the dealer that it's probably because it's a different build compared to my sonata ie. But now I hear you guys talk about it, I feel like they just like to hide these issues under the rug. Every time I bring up issue about sonata SE road noise, they just all blame the road conditions, suspension etc. While people on this forum have the exact same issue and it seems to boil down to a combination of suspension, bad OEM tires, and lack of sound insulation. This makes me appreciate forums like this and really makes me hate some of these sales people. I will have to do some more test drives and get a better feeling. I can see this being an issue especially on a long road trip. Rather than hearing the bumps and the road, I hear the wind. |

Thanks for all the responses! The dealership just called again and said they feel its an issue with the front windshield not being "seated properly". They have ordered a new factory windshield, and will change it late this week. If this does not fix it I will opt for the whole new vehicle...

I do get some wind noise on the interstate only, sounds like it is coming from the mirrors. Maybe sometime I will fold the mirrors in and see....not sure there is much you can so about that though, need the mirrors especially on the interstate.

Can't recall if I had a similar problem with my current Highlander or my previous Subaru Outback (****, that age thing). Anyway, believe it or not, it had to do with the weather stripping around the door frame near the mirror, and to fix, they added a small piece of rubber to the seal to somehow change aerodynamics and to eliminate the whistle. Never would have guessed.....
