My dealership here in CO said it was coming from my bug guard. I believe no matter what I still should not hear the whistling noise. I plan on taking my car to windshield repair shop to have them reset the front windshield to see if that takes care of the problem.

I posted in another thread my concern after a test drive. I could immediately hear the wind noise on the drivers side, and then subsequently heard it (not as bad) on the passengers side. I tried folding the mirror in and it didn't seem to change the noise that much, so makes me wonder if it really is the mirror.
Whats funny is the salesman had nothing to say, dead silence on his part. The sales manager said "turn the radio up and you won't hear it". The service manager said absolutely nothing could be done about it. This tells me they have heard this way too many times and are about out of excuses. This one issue is standing between me and buying a Santa Fe! Sad as I think it's a great vehicle. |

Bad idea, unless you have absolute proof the windshield is at fault. If so, it would be a warranty issue. You can be sure the factory did a very good job installing the WS. It is set in quality sealant with very precise equipment and alignment. Then it passes a water test. To have a shop remove and hopefully install it better is not realistic. It's your money but unless it is an obvious defect, my 2 cents says leave it alone. More likely your noise is a side window problem since that is a moving part. I'd suggest taking the guard off to see if the noise goes away. If it does, than you'll save the cost of a windshield reseat and possible problems from doing that. If the noise doesn't go away, then take it back to the dealer to show him it wasn't the "bug guard" making the noise, and let him resolve the problem. John |
