I got mine from McDonald Hyundai in Denver, CO. You should consider these guys if you live in the Denver Metro Area. (good car buying experience, honestly, compared to the rest of the dealers I saw)
I could be wrong but I believe they gave me a good deal (they up-ed the trade-in value though a little so I can get a tax credit). Otherwise they were showing me an invoice price that something like $26,625 for the 2.4l AWD (no leather, nothing). They worked hard to get me good financing though, so I have to be thankful for that. (The Jeep dealer in Lakewood, CO told me "The loan is something between you and the bank" - basically go F* youself, we don't care.) I think I should have got the 2.0T, but I have enough speeding tickets as it is...(I had a 9-3 SAAB before...) |

congrats on your new ride!
re: jeep - a friend of mine had a horrible experience with leasing a jeep through them... american mfr's are going belly up and they're taking it out on their customers so this experience is typical nowadays... anyway, glad you got a good deal on your car! enjoy it! |

I went with Shortline in aurora and bought the 2.0L but it will primarily be my wife's car and I will now drive her former car, a Saab 9-5. I will use the Sante Fe for my trips into the mtns and I'll find out how it does for moderate off road use.
I've always driven sport sedans and can't say I'm overwhelmed by the driving experience of a crossover but having AWD will be nice in the snow. The 2.0L is ok but I have to wonder if maybe Hyundai inflated the output of the engine as they did with the mpg, my Saab weighs in at 3600lbs and the engine is rated at 230 hp and 220 ft/lbs torque but it sure feels more potent than the Hyundai Sport. |

Thanks Sh00K for the best wishes. Our other car is a lease from Jeep (Ally Bank) a 2011 Grand Cherokee, we wanted to buy it at the end of the lease, but turns out Ally put a $2,500 FEE is you buy it!!! Basically killing the deal for you.... Noone ever disclosed that us. I think that it is a blatant omission of disclosure. But that off topic...

So dtech I see you are in Wesminster? McDonald Hyundai would be kind of out of the way for you....On the performance question -- Absolutely my SAAB feels more potent! My 9-3 was a Linear rates at like 185hp or torque about the same and compared to the 2.4l normally aspirated Hyundai is much more spirited (even though the 2.4l Santa Fe is rated at about the same torque and the SAAB was only about 200lbs lighter.
The ONLY reason I traded my SAAB (was a 2005) was because my wife insisted on me getting an AWD -- which, truth be told will be nice when the snow comes around. dtech -- have you seen cargo are covers for the 2013 Santa Fe's? Thanks |

sales guy at Shortline advised not to buy cargo cover - he said he has one and it rattles. In my case I don't think I'll need it as with the rear window shades down it's hard to see much inside the rear area. I've driven the Saab 9-3 and they are fun - hope you got decent trade in for it.

I also had a Saab 9-5. Really like the build quality but it was a maintenance hog. Good thing I do most of my own maintenance. Daughter totaled it. Lucky she was in the Saab because I'm not sure she would have survived otherwise. |

I had 2 9-5 - a 1999 and a 2004 , I sold the 1999 when I bought the Sport, so I took the wife's 2004 which except for high interior noise is a pretty good car. My 1999 racked up 170k miles with not a lot of repairs except for general maintenance, had to replace fuel pump, TB, CPS, oil pressure sensor ($4 part but painful to replc) . But both 1999 and 2004 had a fair amount of repairs done under warranty.
Yes there is often a difference between lab crash safely ratings and a real world crash so good your daughter was in a Saab. |
