Hi guys, last week the engine light turned on and I took the car into the dealer to have it checked out and after 2 days of them not getting anything done they said I had to replace the purge valve but really didn't give me specifics of what was wrong with the car besides that. Has anyone encountered an issue with the Purge Valve. Thanks for the help.
P.S. The Service Department is Horrible at Tuttle-Click Hyundai in Irvine,CA(where I bought the car) they are not thorough, try to haggle you and place blame on other departments about who said what and you have to follow up with them to find out if your car is done because no one calls you back to tell you if its done or not, and when I called they said it was done but when I showed up the adviser (Robert Baguely) told me my car has been done and when I asked what they did to the car, he couldn't tell me anything but that the Purge Valve needed to be replaced but then that part wasn't even received by the shop yet. So how can a car be done when there was no service done to the car when I specifically brought it in to be serviced and fixed which is covered under warranty?? Instead of remedying the situation or finding solutions to their error, he was just playing the blame game and not taking accountability for his lack of service. After arguing and realizing it was a dumb move on his part to be yelling back at a customer he tried to save face by saying don't worry about it, and we will try to see where the part is and we'll call you tomorrow? We'll see if they do. It's been 5 days without my car.

Find another dealer to handle your service needs.. If Robert cannot read the job description and cause of condition and what they did to repair the car, bet you $100 Hyundai AINTA GONNA pay the claim when they try to get paid for repair.
Do you have you receipt/invoice for work ?

That's the plan, just giving everyone else a heads up on their service, plus they share service department with the Chrysler so its all a mess in there. The only paperwork I have was from when I dropped off my car which shows Oil Change and to Check Engine Light, they didn't even give me anything else after as far as what needed to be done but just telling me they needed to change the Purge Valve. The thing is that I purchased a 3 year oil change service from that dealer and a Partners Administrative Service Extended warranty/maintenance care from that dealer when I bought the car.

My recommendation is to make a call to Hyundai Customer Service. CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) and FFV (Fixed First Visit) are a BIG deal to the manufacturer. Those numbers are watched monthly. In the past I had received two awards for Customer Satisfaction from Saturn when I worked for them as a tech. (Was the only one at the dealership to ever receive them.) I was an honest tech that took the time to figure out issues that were difficult for others to find.
I can tell you that if there is an issue with a new vehicle and the manufacturer knows about it they usually will send a rep out to check on a new warranty claim. Sounds to me though, someone is just shotgunning a purge valve at it to receive some time for a repair that is most likely not needed.....this happens a lot in dealerships because guys want to get paid for everything they look at. If it is an evap code the vehicle had it could have been a bad seal on the gas cap (which pays literally nothing to replace versus a purge valve which could have been double or more.) See where I'm going with this? Just an example given the treatment you received by the dealer. Good luck to you.

That's my concern is that they may not be honest with what is really wrong and I don't want them messing up anything that didn't need to be messed with.
Do you happen to know where I can find those numbers. Thanks, I really appreciate it. |

0441 is commonn purge flow incorrect.. mostly code set when Tank pressure sensor see vacuum change via tank pressure sensor and logic knows that purge not being commanded to cycle and create pressure change.
Kinda funny to see 0441 this early on, unless bum part.. BTW, anytime anybody picks up their car from being serviced, they is supposed to give you a receipt for work done/to show disposition of ticket that was written when you brought car in for service.. you not get receipt, go back and get it, and if they did not offer to you in first place, call Hyundai Motor, and maybe BBB ? ----------------------------------- The purge solenoid is a pneumatic device that meters the air and fuel (purge) vapor flow to the purge port. In a sense, the purge solenoid is comparable to a fuel injector, because the metered purge flow follows the same slope and offset characteristics. However, the purge solenoid normally runs with a duty cycle at a fixed frequency because the opening response is significantly slower than a fuel injector. It would not practical to run the solenoid synchronously with engine events except perhaps at very low RPM. The normal frequencies for the purge solenoid are between 8 and 20 Hz. DTC Description Checking output signals from fuel tank pressure sensor under evap.system test, if fuel tank's vacuum is higher than prescribed threshold, ECM sets P0441.
