Default ECU update this morning...

My Accents CEL went on last night. Took it to my dealer this morning and said it needed an ECU update. Any ideas on what the latest update does/fixes?

When did you purchase the car? IIRC the update only applied to 2012 vehicles purchased late 2011. In any case, good luck and let us know what comes out of it!

I just took a peek at the Hyundai Service site and they have a July 2012 TSB about an ECU update to deal with false evaporative emission system trouble codes (P0456 and P0461) being set... It's for RB Accents built before May 14, 2012

Ok, so you took car to dealer and had service work done.. thwy should have given you an invoice/receipt for the work performed to your car.. on that invice should have jobs lined out as to customer concern, the cause, and what they did to effect a repair..

What does the text on your receipt/invioice state.. no fair skimming/generalizing,, post up exactly what it says and I can track it very quickly and offer explanation..

Stating I had work done and they did a program for codes dont hold a lot of water, Hyundai Motor would deny that dealer' claim payment so fast it not funny.

OBD-II Trouble Code: P0128 Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature)

Just guessing, but looks like the ECU update was unrelated to the CEL.

Can you post a better pic of the job to include the OP number used ?

RB Accent had a recall update a while back.. then they revised it to include 1128 DTC logic.. and there is later updates beyond that recall/bulletin..

-----------------------

Description: This bulletin provides information related to the ECM software update of some 2012MY ACCENT (R vehicles to revise the following ECM DTC(s) diagnostic logic:

P0128: Coolant thermostat - Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature
(Note: Vehicles that already had TH1 campaign performed before April 2012 did not include the P0128 fix at that time. Refer to TSB 12-01-002 if such vehicle needs fix for a P0128 incident occurring at this time).

P0191: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance

 P061B: Internal Control Module Torque Calculation Performance

P0456: Evaporative Emission System-Leak detected (very small leak)

P2188: DTC P2188 - Fuel System Too Rich - At Idle (Bank 1).

Applicable Vehicles:
2012 MY ACCENT (R with 1.6L GDI engine:
(Vehicles produced from March 23 to Sept 8, 2011

GDS ECM Update Event# Information:

EVENT# 268 (or later compatible event)*

DESCRIPTION "RB 1.6 P0128 DTC LOGIC IMPROVEMENT"

(* later event for A/T vehicle that includes additional update)
