undercoating?

During my wheel plastidip escapade, I managed to remove some of the protective material on the pinch welds thanks to my jack....

I have nightmares about rust so I quickly used some of my blue touch up paint on the areas where the jack mangled the pinch weld.


question is, what should I use to make sure it doesnt rust? I was looking at either bedliner, or this

I was going to say use gravel guard, but that stuff from Wal~Mart is pretty much the same thing. Anything rubberized like that will do the trick. That way it has some flex to it, which will help repel rocks without chiping or cracking.

At $7.50 a can, and easily applied at home, that is the way to go!

Nothing productive to add but that part made me laugh out loud!

You can buy truck-bedliner in a spray can as well. Either way you want to be extremely diligent about cleaning the effected area prior to application or it will come off after time. Should be an easy one.

I really do freak out about rust. It will bug the living h out of me if I know if there is rust on my car...

Here in El Paso we get some freak snow storms and they have recently adopted using salt on the road to help melt the ice where before they were using primarily sand.

Do they sell Krown at wally world (walmart)? Im thinking about getting a good can of black bed liner and covering it with that.

Krown is a process available up north where they drill holes all over your car and flood its guts with oil or something. You probably won't find anyone offering such services in Texas.

A can of undercoating spray of some sort should be just fine.

I had a chunk of the rubberized stuff hanging off of underneath the car around the pinch welds earlier this year. I just ripped it off and never remembered to do anything about it, thanks for the reminder. Not sure if it is bare metal, perhaps I should look before winter.

Salt does horrible things to vehicles. It's good that you're proactive and do everything in your power to prevent rust from forming. It's an ongoing battle for me since the roads in Northeastern PA are covered in salt five to six months of the year.

That's why I don't think I could live up north. It would drive me crazy seeing all the salt on the ground.

I think I went a little over the top on this. I went to walmart and got a can of rust reformer, RustOleum.com
and a can of undercoating, RustOleum.com

Went to town on those bare metal spots haha
