![]() I agree completely! I never believed in snow/winter tires until I became a volunteer firefighter. My first winter as a firefighter I put my very first set of Uniroyal Tigerpaw snow tires on my XG350. After getting called out in at all hours of the day and night, in ALL types of weather, I was some glad I decided to go with snow tires! Now, I wouldnt drive a winter without them. I plan on putting Hankook I*Pike tires (Canadian Tire) on the Accent in the next week or so. I run Nexens on the Elantra, and we love them, but they dont make a 175/70R14, which is what I have decided to put on the Accent instead of the factory 16's. |

Hyundai has nexen win spike in 175/70/14. They sell the tires for 349 or with steel wheels for 589. Not cheap, but pretty decent for dealer pricing. Anyone know anything about the win spikes?

Hey I just got the new tires on today and I can already feel difference in handleing, a lot squishier. Pics will come tomorrow since its dark here.
Anyways since I have no intention of ever putting the Hankook Optimo H724 175/70 R14's back on I am putting them up for sale. They have about 3,000 miles on them and I know not a lot of people don't like them but I would like to get something to help with the cost of the winter tires. So I am asking $100 for the set + shipping (vs tirerack's $236 + shipping), local pickup if you are close by (free), Pm me for a shipping quote. This will be posted in the classified section as well. On a side note, we got our first decent snow today, We watched 3 seperate wreckes happen in front of us while we were running around. Poeple around here forget how to drive in snow, first snow is always a hoot!

Finally got the Michellin X-Ice2's mounted today. They seem to drive the same as the regular OEM all-season tires. So far, so good.
Almost look forward to some snow to test them out.....almost, but not really. ![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:

that happened to me too! Put snows on 2 of three cars and the temperature went up!
We now have some wet crap around and I put I*Pike Hankooks on, they had gotten good reviews, weren't the best rated by Consumers but the user reviews had been good. They are good so far, definitely quiet for snows. The only thing that I find is not a tire problem but the fact that the Accent is light and punching thru drifts and wind ridges may be a problem. Just something I will have to adjust to. |

It finally snowed here. 2"-3" some slush, hard pack, ice, etc etc...
The Michellin X-Ice Xi2 performed very well. I'm very happy with the performance and felt confident at the wheel in some very ugly conditions. |

Yeah we have about 12" outside and the generals are awesome! The cars handles great and has no problems climbing hills with 5-6" of snow.
